It’s official… I am now in wedding planning mode {as if you couldn’t tell already!} I have been waiting for this day since a little girl and now at 26, I know I am ready to get down to business…for those that don’t know me personally, I am OCD when it comes to planning- I make lists, send reminder emails, and always have a timeline for planning special events.
Now this is where all my experience and background as a bridesmaid can come into full effect! Last week, we started things off and were successful at securing my dream ceremony venue:
Scarritt Bennett Wightman Chapel
A few of my friends have gotten married there over the past few years and from that moment I knew this was the place I was going to walk down the aisle… it is absolutely gorgeous!! With the huge pipe organ, stained glass windows, slate floors, and long aisle, it is the PERFECT place in Nashville to get married {or so I’d like to think}. It’s on the National Historic Register and located on Vanderbilt’s campus so it’s close to downtown, too!
The only problem–you have to book well in advance because the dates fill up FAST! So, we put our heads together, finalized a date, and will be getting married on:
June 11, 2011
Can you tell how ecstatic I am? Of course I’d marry Jeff tomorrow if I could, but I want all the fun weddings bring and need extra time since we just bought a house, too. I have always wanted a summer wedding and thanks to my parents and Jeff, they let me have my way =)
Now it’s on to hiring a wedding planner and securing a reception venue… lots to do!
A sidenote: I know some of you out there must think I am nutso/insane for getting so much checked off my list so soon, but in Nashville, it’s like there are a GAZILLION brides and only so many venues to choose from and I really want to get these important things completed ASAP so I can sit back and relax for awhile!
And just because, here are a few more pictures from weddings at Scarrit Bennett:

Beautiful place! Congratulations and it'll be here before you know it!
Love Scarritt Bennett! Great choice! I remember going to a bridal show with a friend in Jan. 2008 and they told me they were booked through Apr. 2009. I was shocked. Way to do it early and get the date and venue you wanted!
Oh my goodness. That church is beautiful!! What a fabulous choice!! And its better to get things off that check list then wait too long:)
ohhh how exciting! I bet picking a date made it feel so real!
such an exciting time!
By the time we get married june 12, 2010, we will have been engaged for 20 months. I started planning early as well! We had the ceremony and reception venue book within a few months of when we got engaged too! I LOVED getting my first choice for everything!
Congrats! My friend is getting married at Scarritt Bennett this June! It is SO pretty!!
It's a beautiful place for your ceremony! Congrats on securing it đ I don't think it's odd at all to do it early! Happy planning! đ
the wedding venue is gorgeous!!! CONGRATS on picking a wedding date! that is one of the hardest, but most exciting parts.
It's AMAZING!
Big question though… are you going back to blond for the ceremony or staying brunette?
And girl you;re not the only one, I've had the basics of my wedding planned out for years and as soon as i get engaged will be on the ball (just don't tell my bf! I try to pretend like I'm not obsessing over it).
Let the planning begin — it looks GORGEOUS!!
love it! so pretty!
This church is beautiful!! June 11 is my bday! Let's be sure to stay connected through this crazy process called Wedding Planning! =)
Wow – what a gorgeous chapel. You'll have a stunning ceremony. Can't wait to hear more about your plans! And I definitely don't think you're crazy to be planning so soon – if you don't the other brides will and you'll be stuck with what's left. Wedding planning is such a crazy industry.
That chapel is insanely gorgeous! I was engaged for almost exactly 2 years when I got married. And I had everything planned almost 4 months after I got engaged! Trust me, you're fine! I'm so excited for you and can't wait to follow you as you plan your big day!
That church is beautiful! I can't wait to see more details as they come.
The church looks beautiful! I totally feel you on being anal about planning, I am definitely the same way!
That place is beautiful! Great choice!
Congratulations! The church is beautiful. I got married in a beautiful church as well and a lot of my friends still remember my wedding.
Wishing you all the best.
Warmly,
Bernie
I must say I am in love with this chapel…we were married there just three weeks ago on a beautiful winter's day. All that candlelight against the stained glass was to die for! Our out of town guests literally had their jaws on the ground when they saw the place! Congrats, girl!
In my opinion it's NEVER too early to book the important things during your wedding planning!!! The venue/church, the reception location, and even getting a jump on your dress shopping are great ideas!! (can u tell I was a planner too?!) So glad you've picked a date…some people enjoy long leisurely engagements with no real 'end goal' in sight. I'm all for getting the plans rolling,,, there will be plenty of time to enjoy the engagement phase as your date is over a year away! Congrats again, it's gonna be fab!!!
That place is too die for! It will be a beautiful wedding!
Gorgeous! Congrats on picking a venue and setting a date! Now it's real! And the venue sets the whole tone of the wedding, so now you can really start planning!
My anniversary is June 14th! You will love being a June bride. And don't apologize for booking early – I was the same way and that's the smart way to be because you are more likely to have everything you want and less stress as the day approaches. Congratulations! đ
Congrats on setting the date! Try to enjoy it!
That place looks absolutely magical!
Oh my gosh, it is simply beautiful!! Enjoy the planning đ
Have fun planning! But don't overwhelm yourself, it can turn into a full time job. Don't be afraid to ask for help. I am glad you'll be getting married in your dream church! I did and it meant to the world to me đ
Beautiful! So inspired!
So freaking excited for you!!
I am so glad that you got Scarritt!! That was my first choice.. of course 12 months out – my date was booked. Whores. SO I went with Woodmont Christian as my 2nd choice đ
What are you thinking with Reception?! CANT wait to hear!!!
that church is just absolutely gorgeous!!! definitely looks like the ideal place every little gal dreams about!!!
