It’s been almost a month since Jeff and I got engaged and it seems as though I’m in the midst of my very first bridal breakdown… up until yesterday, everything had been going my way as far as wedding planning–I booked my dream ceremony, found the perfect reception venue, hired a fabulous wedding planner, am beginning to meet with local photographers–but then we hit a glitch… CMA Music Fest.
Everyone who loves country music–I apologize in advance–but I hate Fan Fair… this event takes over everything in Nashville and us native residents have to take a back seat to the mullets and honky-tonks that travel here for the 4 day concert festival. Not to mention, it seems as though most hotels in Nashville are refusing to block off hotel rooms for our out-of-town guests, because they know when these cowboys come in town they can charge $400 a night and no one will think twice, just so they can see their beloved Kenny Chesney. I’m just frustrated that we’re having to deal with this, when I have been sooooo on-the-ball about trying to plan well in advance to avoid this kind of stress later down the road, or so I thought.
I am thankful, however, that both Jeff and my Mom are doing anything and everything in their power to diffuse the situation and get hotels we’re happy with for that weekend… I know I am just being a bridal brat right now and it will all work out, but I’m just wanting everything to be perfect for my friends and family–is that so wrong?? =(
Bridal meltdowns are so normal. I had quite a few. My poor hubby thought I was loosing it!
Soon you will be married and can look back at the meltdowns and laugh!
I am dealing with the SAME problem! We're getting married the same day as a NASCAR race. Need I say more? Our guests are going to be paying more, but I just keep telling myself the people that matter will make it happen.
OH girl, just wait, the meltdowns are going to come in bulk. Hang in there, it gets better!!
Oh I don't miss those days. Trust me things will inevitably happen, but for the most part they have an odd way of working out. Don't worry things will get better.
It'll be ok. Our wedding was the night Memphis played UCLA in the Final Four. We just set up tvs at the reception. Fred and I actually had to wait on the game to finish before we could enter our own reception. But, it all works out!
Aww I understand girl! ( my wedding is on Steeplechase. umm. not as bad as fain fair – but still pretty messed up! all of our friends will be shitfaced.)
Everything will work out đ Plan for about 29 more meltdowns just like this one đ
xxo
Ugh, dreaded Fan Fair – I hate it too! I always try to get the heck out of town. I have a wedding to go to this year, and the rehearsal dinner is on Friday night, DOWNTOWN, during Fan Fair. đ I'll let ya know how that pans out! đ
It'll be fine, my dear. It'll be the wedding of your dreams!!
I'm so sorry you've hit a glitch! It will work out just fine though, you'll see!
I'll be at CMA Fest however… (Most likely, pending internship!) But I'll be working it for the media. I can definitely see how it would be a HGUE inconvenience for those who live there!
Oh gosh, I've been having some bridal breakdowns as well my lady. Deposits seem to be sneaking up on me and the money is adding up quick. Leads to panic attacks and reminds me I'm not on top of it all. But I'd like to keep thinking….it will ALL work out in the end. For both of us:)
it will all work out in the end!!!
Hang in there babe…I cannot tell you how many things went wrong when I planned my wedding. I probably could have made the Guniness Book of World records. That is the real reason couples need honeymoons–to recover from the wedding planning. I think that these glitches all happen to make you realize that it is about you and your love. On your wedding day all those zillion hours of planning will pay off–the only thing in the world that will matter is you and him and it will be perfect!
I'm sorry! You'll figure something out soon, I'm sure đ I haven't really encountered any glitches yet, but I know some will arise! đ Hang in there.
Hope you get everything worked out, silly country star concerts! Take a deep breath and think of yourself on your wedding day, will be so beautiful!
Oh, I'm so sorry you are having to go through that. I got married in Arlington Tx (right by the new Dallas Cowboys stadium). The first event ever in that stadium was George Straight…the day of my wedding. Luckily most of my people were local so we didn't end up having too many hotel issues, but traffic was a nightmare. We actually had a few of our guests decide the concert was more important than our wedding- learned real quick who our true friends were. Good luck, I know everything will work out.
Hang in there. Trust me, in the grand scheme of things, hotel blocks are not a huge deal. Trust me, my cake almost fell over! We got married Easter weekend of 2008 – which also happened to fall in the first weekend of spring break. In Galveston. The day before 3 cruise ships left the port! It was insane. However, the hotel we were married at had a sister hotel and they both blocked some rooms for us. I'm sure it will work out! Good luck!
Your date is the weekend of Fan Fare? Yikes! I made tons of double checks to make sure we didn't interefere with Titans, Vandy move-in date, or any SEC college games. We were thinking spring for awhile and I also checked against Steeplechase and local university graduations. You can never be too careful! Is it too late to change the date?
Hope things go smoothly & this is the only glitch you have (: I didn't freak out until the day before my wedding and my husband and I were already ready so the nerves were more about having an audience stare at me hah!
This is totally understandable who wants to pay a high price for a hotel room just because some concert is in town. But of course I love me some Kenny. I'm sure you'll figure it all out and everything will be perfect! So don't sweat your allowed a few freak outs!
Soon you will be married and can look back at the meltdowns and laugh!
