The Weekend Plans

weekend

December 10, 2010

Happy dance, happy dance–it’s Friday friends. Funny how we all get somber come Monday morning, but as of close of business on Friday, we’re all reminded just how much we love the weekends. Today is a whopping 2 weeks from Christmas Eve festivities and I feel as though there is still so much left to be done. However, all wrapping and packing of presents will have to hold off until next week because this weekend is jam-packed with holiday fun!
Tonight, the boy and I plan to relax, rent a movie {I know, we’re old school and don’t do NetFlix}, and head to Le Kroger–the grocery store–for a romantic stroll through the aisles…hey, it’s the only night we have time to do it and the show must go on 😉
Tomorrow morning, we’ll be at it bright and early driving out to Franklin for Dicken’s Christmas!! It’s something my parents and I have done for years and now Jeff has been brought into the tradition and he loves it too. We can indulge at one of my favorite eateries, H.R.H. Dumplins, drink some wassail, listen to the carolers, and have a peek into a few of my favorite downtown Franklin boutiques–Rock.Paper.Scissors, The Registry, The Iron Gate, Walton’s Estate Jewelers, What’s-in-Store, and Re-Do just to name a few.  We’re  on a mission to cover the walls of our house within the next few months so I am searching high and low for custom art, canvases, mirrors, frames, and any fun decor to finish a few rooms.
After lunch, we’re splitting the team up into 2 groups… Mom and Jeff versus Dad and me. My Dad and I always plan a shopping adventure each Christmas to round out Mom’s gifts and get her a few extra special presents and its something he and I both look forward to–never too much dad and daughter time! Jeff and Mom will be conquering my Christmas want list and poor Jeff needs all the help he can get… he says I am too hard to buy for =(.
Saturday night, Jeff and I are headed downtown to Wildhorse Saloon for my work’s annual Christmas Party. We celebrated there a few years ago and it was so much fun that we’re going back again… mix traditional southern food with fun line dance lessons and cocktails and I am sure this will be another fun night with some of my work friends.
On Sunday, we’re hosting a holiday lunch at our house for my family. We’re all going to the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert that afternoon downtown so we thought it would be fun to have everyone over for a big lunch. Our family will never go hungry as we have planned quite a yummy menu {if I do say so myself!}… Baked Brie, Brown Sugar Pork Loin, Corn Pudding, Hashbrown Casserole, Green Bean Bundles, Sister Shubert Rolls, Salad, German Chocolate Cake, and Sopapilla Cheesecake–the holidays have officially arrived friends!
Have a great weekend everyone–good luck if you’ll be out there with the crazy shoppers!
