One. Team Teddy
We have been hard at work this week crafting away to get our sign ready for Team Teddy’s Five on Friday shout out and link-up celebration. We are so thankful that we’ve gotten to “know” Super Teddy through Facebook, Instagram, and other social media outlets and even more appreciative Mary and Alex have opened up their hearts so we can know all about Teddy Fish. We’re sending you big hugs and kisses today Teddy, and hoping you enjoyed your Valentine from our girls!! #FUMenkes #TeamTeddy
Two. Happy Valentine’s Day
It’s like the creative mom wars have already begun and Caroline is only in MDO…haha. Her teachers sent home a note the other week about bringing in homemade Valentine’s for all the kids in her class and so I started freaking out wanting hers to be the cutest…I know, what the heck is wrong with me. So the other night, we got down to it, crafted these little handmade “Sip Sip Hooray” cards and attached them to silly straws with Capri Sun pouches. Simple and easy and didn’t break the bank either.
As for the girls, their special goodies will be delivered this afternoon when Daddy gets home from work, then us adults are having a mommy/daddy date night at Urban Grub (one of our favorite places!)…and a big thanks to Alex for watching the babes for us!
Three. Cheese Tortellini Italian Sausage Soup
I love me some easy peasy dinner options and this one just made it in our lineup as of last night. It was absolutely amazing and was a big hit with everyone, Caroline included. Perfect for these chilly temps, too!
Four. Virtues to Pray for Children
At night when I am rocking the babes to sleep and tucking them in, we always say our prayers. It’s just one of those quiet times I get a chance to reflect on what happened that day, and we get some quality one-on-one time with the Big Guy. But I have to admit, sometimes I struggle with what to pray for when it comes to the minis…I found this helpful graphic awhile ago (source here) and it definitely helps put things in perspective on what I should be talking about with my wee ones.
Five. Chalk Paint
I wish I was a DIY girl, I really do…honestly, I get these big ideas in my head and I then I freak out so much that I am going to screw it up and so I rarely just try it and see how it goes. But I’m rethinking that plan and I am going to try to repurpose some of the furniture we have to see if I can make it work in the new house. Yesterday, Mimi and I checked out some local shops and bought some of the infamous chalk paint everyone raves about. Fingers crossed I don’t ruin our breakfast dining set. Any tips to take note of?? I need all the help I can get!
That’s all for today’s roundup! I am ECSTATIC to visit your blogs to see Team Teddy pictures and shout-outs…from the bottom of our hearts (from April, Christina, Darci, and I), thanks to all of you who participate today. This is a time when I am especially thankful for the support so many of us get from the blogging community…it just shows so much positivity and good can come if we act together. Blessings to you and yours this weekend and always.
LOVE those bible verses for kids….totally pinning that for bed time prayers!
That soup looks so yummy! I'm just like you with the DYI, but I think you should go for it!!! đ have a good weekend!!
I think it's so awesome you made this linkup a Team Teddy one. I'm sure not everyone will do what you asked, but those that do are amazing! Great job bringing a worthy cause to people's eyes! #TEAMTEDDY!!!! <3
We made sip sip hooray valentines for my son's class too! Crazy straws from Target and a quick printable. Pretty cute, I think!!!
I agree, it's hard to know what to pray for! Thanks for posting the verses…I'll definitely be putting this into use!
I'm just like you with the DIY! I have great ideas but worried I'm going to totally screw it up! Good luck!
Happy Friday and Happy Valentine's Day! That is an adorable idea for a kid's class valentine! Great job!
Censational Girl has the BEST tutorials! Her painted pieces always look flawless!
Love that sign! Good idea!
Loving the #Team Teddy signs all over my feed this morning. Hopefully this effort will help raise a lot of awareness for sweet Teddy and the Fish family. Thanks for helping host this, Natasha!
And loving the list of things to pray for children. Pinning it now – I sometimes find it hard to put into words just what to pray for sometimes, too!
LOVE #teamteddy!!! I am in the same boat with DIY…I love all of the ideas, but I feel like I could never pull any of it off! I can't wait to see your finished product (hopefully with some tips)! Happy Valentine's Day!!
Your girls are precious and I love the #TeamTeddy sign! Enjoy your special date night and have a fabulous weekend!
I am a friend of Mary and Alex's and just want to thank you for being on #TeamTeddy and taking the time to help create awareness for Menkes Syndrome!
I can't wait to see what you do with the chalk paint, I've heard it's very easy to work with!!
I'm seeing #teamteddy everywhere, it's great đ
I love the Bible verses for kids! All so wonderful! Happy Valentine's!!
I spent like $100 on AS chalk paint, the brush, and the wax. And it's been sitting in my garage for at least six months. I was all excited about it for five minutes and now it just sounds like a lot of work. One day I'll get to it. I hope. đ Maybe if you have some success I'll be inspired. Happy Valentine's Day to you and your sweet C&C!
I can't wait to see what you do with the chalk paint! I've heard it is pretty user-friendly. Yay for #TeamTeddy!
The #TeamTeddy response has been so amazing, and it's only like 11:40 am right now!! Thank you SO SO SO much to you & all the girls for putting this together…so crazy to see Teddy's story all over the blogosphere. Good luck with the chalk paint…..I have NOT had good luck with it….it does not work like regular wall paint!
I love your blog…and so happy to share the #Team Teddy love. The caprisun valentine was brilliant! And I have got to save that praying for your children graphic for the future…so sweet. Happy Valentine's Day to you + your fam! Xx.
Loved this entire post (I have been dying to redo some furniture with chalk paint, but haven't pulled the trigger!), but the thing I loved most is the prayer printable. You are such a good, good mama!!!! I'm printing that today and putting it in my planner so I can look at it frequently!
Hope CC had a fun Vday party at MDO!!!!! Ready for a true story? I went bat shit crazy (of course) and put together all kinds of Valentine's treats, big huge thing of mixed fruit for their party, gifts for teachers, etc…. I get him dressed all cute and we head out the door (he doesn't go on Fridays, but was going just for the party). We get there and he wants nothing to do with it. As in is begging to go home and "sleep in my new bed, pease!" and "I not want to party – I feed ducks!" We stayed five minutes and left because he was not having it. Granted, there were a ton of parents there and it was kind of wild, but I was shocked he didn't want to stay and party. Glad I spent hours getting prepped for THAT V-day party!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrr. Maybe next year!
Happy day, sweets!
Chalk paint is so easy! You will love it! I repurposed a $50 armoire {http://withpearlsandastethoscope.blogspot.com/2013/12/craigslist-makeover.html} and must say that the most important part for me was the finish. I used the Rustoleum Finishing Glaze to give it more dimension. It is seriously impossible to mess up! Good luck!
