One. Learning to Say No
When I signed up Emily Ley’s coaching webinar a few weeks ago, I took one major thing away (among many amazing tips, tricks, and advice about owning your own business), but this one is ringing true to me for so many reasons and I am slowly but surely trying to master it. There are times when I am having to tell myself to say no…say no to opportunities because they don’t make sense right now, say no to clutter that fills up my day and takes away time that I need to work on other things, and say no to the things that don’t make me happy. It’s a constant battle, but I am going to win this one and I hope you will too!!
Two. Easter Basket Goodies
Instead of going all out this year with the girls’ Easter baskets, I did something very simple AND useful. I bought them things they actually needed, and asked family to do the same. Don’t get me wrong, we LOVE us some toys, but it’s overwhelming and we just did a spring cleaning/inventory check and sent a bunch of items off to kids who need it more and that felt great. So, the Easter Bunny is taking a break from toys and such and is bringing swimsuits, coverups, sandals, Easter books, and Carson is getting her very own Jellycat (because she always tries to steal her sisters). Simple, easy fun little presents for two very sweet babes!

Three. Lent Challenge
I’ve got a little more than a week to go my friends, but I can’t lie, this challenge has been a struggle. It’s sad that I have struggled with this sacrifice more than some of the others I have done in the past, but that’s what Lent is about, right?? My challenge to not shop has allowed me to do things for others and has allowed me to not be so focused on spending unnecessary money on random things that fill my closet with clutter (i.e. back to #1 with the “just because I can, doesn’t mean I should” mentality). However, with all this being said, stores better watch out the Monday after Easter because this mama needs to do some major shopping for vacation attire. The family beach trip is a month away and I have been pregnant the past two springs so I am in desperate need of new clothes and swimwear.
Four. Major Spring Weekend
The weatherman says it’s going to be a glorious weekend here in Nashville and I am giddy with excitement. We’ve got plans for cooking out as much as possible, working on the yard to stock up on herbs, ferns for the front porch, planter boxes, and all sorts of goodies to test out CC’s green thumb (my little gardening assistant), major stroller action at the park, and then watching the Masters with friends on Sunday. These are the weekends that make for the best memories!!
Five. A Big Thank You
Sugar Bit has been open a little more than a week now and I can’t say enough thanks for all your kind words about the site, shop, and for everyone that has already placed orders with us. It’s been so much fun seeing this through to fruition and it’s been everything I hoped AND more. And just to say a big THANK YOU to all my blogging friends/family, I want to offer 10% off you order for the next week because without your support, none of this would be possible. Simply insert the discount code “
READYSETSHOP” in at checkout to save 10%…easy peasy. So many fun things coming up so stay tuned!! I promise to try to balance my personal blog and keep on posting the things I’ve always talked about, but I can’t help but share this new venture too, as it is a huge piece of my life…I hope you’ll forgive me in advance.
Now you know what to do ladies…link up using the widget below to feature your Five on Friday post!
No babies yet for me but I love Sugarbit and am going to enjoy spoiling a lot of babies in my life with it. Or their mamas. I sent the link to my friends with kids. The verdict is in: adorbs.
i love that first picture – so true. i keep that in mind with bad things – does that make sense? like just because i can be mean to someone doesnt mean i should. not that i'm mean for fun.. but you get what i mean! i dont have babies yet, but when i do – all over sugar bit! congrats mama đ
I love that bathing suit you picked out for the Easter basket! Too cute!
I am so with you about only buying useful/things the kids need for Easter. I'm finally starting to "get it" that the kids do not need a million toys and we are SO less stressed when there is less clutter in the house!

I am so trying to do the same thing for Millie's Easter basket, buying her things she "needs" for spring and summer and not just toys, candy, etc. Congrats again on your shop!!
Congrats on your new adventure with Sugarbit! I went and looked and loved all of the selection! Will you ever be offering larger sizes than 4/4T?
i love that quote! so smart to remember đ xo jillian – cornflake dreams
We decided to do less toys for Noah's Easter basket too… He has enough. We did get him those two Easter books to read this month and he loves them :). Have a great weekend!
I think your Easter basket philosophy is perfect! They will look precious … as will the girls đ
I love your Easter basket ideas!! & I need to be doing yard work this weekend too!! With it supposed to storm on Sunday here I feel like I have a very short window of opportunity! HA!
I really love the idea of your Easter basket – plus it's still fun and cute stuff. Do you do one for Jeff? I'm thinking about making one for Joel but I've still got to actually DO it instead of just think about it!
Girl kudos for you to sticking to lent! Monday better be ready!
I think saying no is something soo many of us struggle with…I tend to have the "I can do it all" mentality and then get totally overwhelmed and have a meltdown! It's always a good reminder.
Congrats on the store!!
Love that you took Emily's webinar. Learned so much from her when she spoke at Making Things Happen about working from home.
Sounds like the perfect weekend! Have a great one.
What a great quote and what truth!! Like your idea about goodies for the Easter baskets too, I'm trying to do that with the Grans baskets. And, I should have done without shopping for myself for Lent as well. Sometimes I forget that just because something is on sale it doesn't mean I need it. Ugh! Great post!
