I’m a horrid blogger these days, and I know it. I think my actual readworthy posts are getting smaller and smaller and I feel like it’s been packed with fluff for a bit, so let’s get back to the good stuff that I am really excited to share.
By now you know we moved into our “new” house back in December, though I’ve yet to do a formal “house tour” otherwise known as I am too lazy to take pictures, upload them, yada, yada, yada, so instead, I am going to do a room by room glance as we get things done.
We have been here 5+ months now and have 1.5 rooms done…haha. A LONG WAY TO GO I assure you! It takes time, patience, money, and the ability to make a decision and I lack that ability apparently.
So without further adieu, here is the totally renovated powder room…
And I will forewarn you and let you know that when we moved in, there was gold foil damask wallpaper, a pedestal sink, and a urinal…yes, you read that correctly, a urinal. Apparently, the former owners had 3 boys and I guess the mom wanted to make it easy on them to use the potty?? Who knows. I will tell you it’s the talk of the neighborhood and hilarious when we meet our neighbors and they say “oh yeah, you bought the house with the urinal”. Lovely connotation, right? At least it’s an interesting conversation topic I guess.
Some people prefer neutrals and white, and I prefer color…big bold color, especially in small spaces. As soon as I saw this wallpaper, it had to be mine and it was well worth the wait!! We had our contractor install wainscoting on the bottom half of the walls to add some dimension and I love the end product.
Next is the gorgeous bathroom console…it’s an antique gray-wash color with carrera marble and it was a piece I had been eyeing for a long, long time. We then added traditional sconces as well as a mini chandelier that I might have bought for Carson’s room, too!
I love it when a room is easy to share…I could show you the toilet, though I’m all certain we all know what those look like and displaying those is just awkward to me anyways. So there you have it…our first completely finished room in the new Stoneking home. Thanks for letting me play show and tell! I know it’s no designer before and after, but I am really proud of it.
BTW the wallpaper is by Thibaut Wallpaper Monterey Collection: Rivera / Blue on Flax
Love, love, love it!! The pattern is gorgeous and the chandelier makes the bathroom feel so glamorous! I can't wait to see the rest of the house!

love the wall paper.. I've heard it all a urinal! hahaha,
I'm typically not a wallpaper person but that is beautiful. So chic looking.
Beautiful room! You did such an amazing job! And the story about the urinal is too funny! No more! That wall paper is gorgeous!
This bathroom is stunning (and really how often does one get to say that about bathrooms?). Love the wallpaper and lighting! I cannot make a decision at all either – but if my decisions turned out like this room is trust myself a little more 😉
Oh and my husband thinks all homes should have a urinal 😉 (ours does not and probably never will although with two little boys using the potty I swear their bathroom always smells like pee!).
GORGEOUS!!!! I love the wall paper. so perfect for that room! xo
I LOVE that you went bold with the wall paper in there! It's beautiful! Y'all did a great job! & Don't fret… you have 2 minis & a full time schedule so, I think you're doing good! Plus, it does take a lot of money to decorate & re-do a home! & You need breaks every now & then too! Ok I'm done… love the powder room!!
Love the wallpaper and the lighting! I love fun wallpaper in small spaces.
Beautiful! Love the wallpaper! And the vanity. Gorgeous choices. I have my own wallpapered half bath but it's currently in the "before" stage – not the after. I should probably share it on the blog just for the laughs. It's…special. I love what you've done with yours – gives me inspiration for the remodel on mine which sadly, is still a ways off. Like you said, time and money. One room at a time.
Can't wait to see more of your new house!
Great job!! I LOVE the pattern in a small space, and that chandelier….LOVE!

I love the wall paper and your use of color, which I'm afraid of! My whole house might turn into white, black and grey 🙂 Could you do an inspiration post if your style has 'evolved' from one house to the next?
