Cheers to 30 Years…A Tribute to My BFF

You’re lucky in life if you find one person that totally gets you…that understands the ins and outs of every single solitary detail about you, the one that is there 100% unconditionally, the one that knows the good  and the bad, and still loves you just the same.

For me, that person is my best friend Meg and today she turns the big 3 – 0.

I always wanted a sister growing up, and was envious of my friends that had one. Sure, they fought and they argued, but at the end of the day, they had each other and I was fortunate to find that person just a bit later in my life…in college at UT.

We were good friends, for sure, but our friendship transformed into something way bigger when we became roommates once we settled in Nashville and started our careers. To say that we had fun together is an understatement, because so many of my best memories in life include Meg and our adventures. We have those inside jokes, the secrets we dare not share with anyone else in the world, and that is what makes a best friend a person you can’t live without. We both inherited spouses, but they both knew what came with that package, and that came each other…luckily for us, our hubbies are now BFF too so it was a win win for all of us as far as I’m concerned.

I think back on so many lazy Sunday afternoons watching reruns Sex and the City together, late night excursions to Taco Bell for munchies, workouts at the YMCA at 5AM in the morning (my gosh what were we thinking??), and countless trips to the beach, to Knoxville, and anywhere and everywhere in between. Wherever we went, we usually went together. 

Meg, I am a better person for having you as a best friend, as my go-to tell-me-like-it-is confidant, and I know without a doubt you are the sister I always wish I had. You are an incredible woman, friend, wife, and aunt/godmother to my girls and I love you more than you will ever know. (P.S. if you’re reading this, I bet you’re crying by now)

And just a few funnies I had to include: “ma’am, ma’am” (drive thru lane drive by), “as you will see” (4th of July Kenny Chesney concert), “I’ll spit on a b*%ch” (because you totally know I would to stand up for you), Fergalicious (our favorite song), Single Ladies dance routine (yes, because we have a choreographed dance we do together), front line at the stage at Tin Roof every single weekend, life partners forever, funfetti cakes for your birthdays and strawberry ones for mine, “I’m a butterfly” (college animal fun), bachelorette parties, singing The Hills song in our living room at the top of our lungs, the only person I know who knows more rap song lyrics than I do, and so many more countless sayings, occasions, and memories…I could go on for hours. 

Thank you for all you bring to my world and all the joy you give to so many! I love you to the moon and back Meg and I can’t wait to see what’s in store over your next 30 years. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
