You know we love to read in our house…it’s no secret we have a love affair with books and this has been a daily bed/naptime ritual (as well as throughout other times each day) when we cuddle up with the cuties in their respective nursery chairs and read one (or twelve) books. We, of course, have favorites in the rotation, but have recently added a new must to our routine and it’s affectionately called Smokey Tails…one we specifically enjoy because it’s all about Smokey, our beloved UT mascot for our alma mater.
Smokey Tails was written by John Lacey, who reached out to me recently in the effort to spread the word about this great new read. John says he wrote the book because he always enjoyed the creatve writing process, and was his favorite school subject. He majored in advertising at UT (hey, me too!) which is another way he was able to utilize his abilities in storytelling.
A little more background about the story: He began writing this “story” and general plot back in 202, but then put it on the backburner for years. It wasn’t until after he and his wife welcomed their first child Campbell, that the idea came back to life… he then consulted with a team of people, hired an editor, and fine tuned the original story. He says his book differs from other Smokey reads in that it’s the only one that’s a true adventure story with a plot, danger, and a heroic ending that adults and kids alike can enjoy! And no, you don’t have to be a Volunteer fan to enjoy the story.
John has graciously offered to giveaway two Smokey Tails books to readers of Hello! Happiness. What better way to add some new reading material to your library AND given the fact that football season just started, this would make a fun gift for any sports fan, too! Love reading at our house!! What a cute book! đ
I have always loved watching the NFL, but last year I got in to watching college football also. I also like watching college gymnastics.
I've always loved watching college baseball. I've been getting more into college football lately though.
Fellow UT grad here, and I would love this little book to share with my friend's kiddos! Go Vols!!!
Nothing like college football, especially when cheering on the VOLS!
I'm a UNC girl so college basketball is my favorite season! My husband, while a UNC grad, is a Vol at heart (his entire family graduated from UT – we even have season tickets). I know he'd love for my boys to have this book (our oldest shares a name with the stadium đ – just spelled differently). Great game Sunday night!

Football, of course!! Nothing beats snuggling up on a rainy day watching Football by the fire. Or better yet, when it's not too hot outside and we can actually go to the game without getting rained out!!
