I’m a beauty “tester” by default. I can’t help myself. Some amazing new trend or product comes out on the market and I’m going to run right out there and try it out myself. Speaking of, has anyone seen that new Dove commercial with the new spray deodorant? Yeah, already on my “want” list…haha.
With that, today I am talking about a few new goodies I have stumbled upon the past few weeks…some good and some I probably wouldn’t purchase again. You can decide for yourself, but I know I love getting feedback (whether good or bad) on certain products so I know if I should give it a test run or leave it on the shelf.
First up, is the All Covered Up Concealer from Sonia Kashuk. I’d say it’s a moderate to medium coverage concealer…not as “heavy” coverage as some others out there, but great for everyday wear and I think it definitely did its job. For $9.99, I love the price point and I like the fact it comes in a pot so you can apply it with a makeup brush. This is a thrill for me because I would certainly purchase again!
Next is the NYX Cosmetics Love in Paris Eye Shadow Palette. It’s a steal under $10 as well and it’s a great palette that is compact enough to fit in a small cosmetic bag rather than some of the other ones I have (Naked, E.L.F., etc). I love the mix of colors on this one as it’s all hues I will use instead of having ones that are completely out there in tone and sit unused. Great for everyday, but I will admit they don’t stay put unless I use a makeup primer first. (And for that, I use Smashbox Photo Finish Primer). Would I buy this one again? Yes, especially for travel and on-the-go touchups, but not as much for my everyday eye shadow palette.
Another makeup beast I have wanted to tackle has been the evil liquid eyeliner. Let’s be honest, I SUCK at putting on the liquid eyeliners I’ve tried before so I thought this was a failure waiting to happen. So I found the Super Fat Eyeliner from NYX and thought surely I could make this one work. To be honest, it took me a good 4-5 times before I figured it out completely (the technique, the speed at which to put it on, etc)…I think I will stick to my go-to eyeliner and donate this one to someone with far better hand/eye coordination than myself. Fail!
Last, but certainly not least, is the best one of all…I finally gave in and tried dry shampoo and I am OBSESSED! With blonde hair, my mane has a tendency to look oily on day #2, so I was on the hunt for a way to make my hair do-able on the second day when I need to run errands, hit the gym, etc. I found this Dry Shampoo by Salon Graphix and have been super impressed. It doesn’t look “cakey” like some on the market and it just takes a little to do the trick… and the price at under $10 is perfect for me, too. I will be taking this on our Colorado trip for sure!
i still need to try dry shampoo! xo jillian – cornflake dreams
I love hearing about new makeup buys especially ones that don't break the bank. Lately I have been loving so many NYX products, I cannot wait to try their eyeshadow
I need to try that dry shampoo! I've heard so many different things about so many different products, my head feels like it's spinning. But this one seems to be a constant fave with people, so I'm thinking it's a good buy. And I have blonde hair too, so your review is definitely applicable to me!:)
I'm so with you on liquid eyeliner! My favorite was either discontinued or I just can't find it and I've since tried so many and cannot find one I love. I also ,as a blonde :), love that dry shampoo!
have you ever tried 3D fibre lash mascara? you should give it a try…you will not be disapointed. best money ever spent. the only reason i became a presenter is because i loved it so much…and since becoming a presenter, i ended up trying the eyeliner, lip gloss (both so reasonably priced!!), primer, face wash, eye serum and LOVE it all. all natural, no parabens, cruelty free and all that good stuff. you can check it out at http://www.youniqueproducts.com/kristyenglish
Love me some good dry shampoo!
I love that dry shampoo! Will have to give the concealer a try- that's about how much I spend on makeup these days.
I love that dry shampoo! It is perfect for days when I want to get out of the house quickly and don't have time to fuss with washing and drying my hair.
I just got a sample Herbal Essences dry shampoo and it actually does work wonders….it totally lives up to the hype. I'm going to keep an eye out for that shampoo since my sample is almost up.
I have been looking for a new dry shampoo and might just need to try this out! I have dark hair and it is so hard to find a good one! I also really want to check out the eyeshadow pallet. I am awful at doing my eyes but for that price I think I could try! Have a great week love, xo
