A few weeks ago, we were invited to head east to the Smoky Mountains for a fun family weekend getaway, courtesy of
Cabins of the Smoky Mountains Resort. We had been thinking about taking the girls to east Tennessee for a bit now, so this little adventure came at the perfect timing as we were heading to Knoxville for baby Brooks’ baptism that Sunday, too.
Once we made the 4-hour car ride (always SO much fun with two toddlers…haha), we arrived at the resort, checked in, and immediately decided it was time for some R&R before we got out and about in Gatlinburg.
We loved the accommodations and it was perfect for our two kids, us, and Mimi and Pappy… lots of room, a big kitchen, a movie theater for all things Disney, a game room complete with a pool table, air hockey, and arcade games, and of course a back porch that was perfect for taking in the beautiful scenery!

Not a bad view, right???
Testing out the game room!
That night, we headed out to dinner in downtown Gatlinburg, then loaded the girls up in their stroller to walk the streets to be sure we took in the sights. Jeff then saw a place to mine for rocks/gold/jewels so of course we took the girls and they had a ball. Then we finished out the night with lollipops, sweets, and ice cream treats!

Saturday morning, we put the boys in charge of cooking breakfast, got ourselves dressed and ready, and headed out to the
Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. We were nervous about the girls enjoying it, but they loved all the fish, the sights and sounds, riding the tunnel to view the sharks, and of course the activities were so kid friendly, too! Afterwards, we ate lunch and then went back to the cabin so the girls could nap for a few hours… and us adults could rest! Then, it was off to the miniature golf course [yes we were all so excited] and played our little hearts out… Caroline loved it and Carson carried around her yellow ball the entire time… it was a hoot! And as always, Jeff won. That night, we went to dinner at
The Park Grill and then called it a night. It was such a fun, quick trip and was a great way to show the girls the mountains that are so close to us!
Checking out the Nemo fish!
I could wake up to a view like that every single day! What a beautiful place! ~Ree
