I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to get this Smile Direct Club post uploaded… honestly, I wanted to get through the majority of my treatment before including my thoughts and opinions so I could give you an honest peak of what these invisible aligners have done with my smile.
But let’s back up a bit to where I started: I had been looking into treatments for quite some time. I had braces during middle school [thank you SO much Mom and Dad] and have a permanent retainer for my bottom teeth, but I lost my top retainer years ago and ever since, my teeth have shifted a bit.
It’s one of those things that no one would notice, except for my dentist and me, but it has been something I have wanted to “fix” for quite some time.
Well, Smile Direct Club must have been listening because they reached out and asked if I would like to collaborate. Lucky for me, they are based in Nashville, so the process was quick and efficient and we were able to get started right after I returned from our family Disney trip in late September.
Smile Direct Club Review
So… what’s the Smile Direct Club process like?
First, you go online to fill out the necessary information, regarding your patient history. From there, you can either go to an in-office Smileshop visit where they take computer impressions of your current smile, to see what’s going on and align your smile OR they can make a 3D image of your smile via an at-home impression kit… I was able to head downtown to the Nashville/Gulch office and was absolutely amazed at this technology and how fast it was… I was in and out of the office within 20 minutes.
Afterwards, Smile Direct Club sent my digital impressions to a dental professional who moves each tooth like a puzzle, creating a custom treatment plan, which averages about 5 months.
Once that process was complete, they sent my custom aligners in the mail which arrive every month. They also include whitening gel to use to help brighten that smile while straightening it.
I’m more than half way through my Smile Direct Club treatment and I can already see a significant change in my front top teeth, which is incredible in that it’s only been a little over two months. I sleep in my teething trays and try to wear them as much as possible throughout the day, which is convenience since I work from home. The more you wear them each day, the better the results so I’m always having to remind myself of that.
