Carson’s Big Girl Room… The Reveal

The design inspiration for our little nugget’s big girl room started more than a year ago [you can read that post here] and today I am FINALLY sharing the reveal with you… grab a cup of coffee, sit back and relax, and welcome to Carson’s bright, cheerful and oh so fun bedroom!

It all started with this Yellow Jenny Lind Bed… the main source of inspiration for our mellow yellow loving girl! From there, I knew I wanted to incorporate a ton of color, and that’s when I brought our little lady in to help pick Pink Patterned Confetti Sheets, Cazorla Printed Quilt, Pop Dot Duvet Cover, and then of course an array of bold throw pillows for an eclectic, yet youthful palette, including these Trio Pink Euro Shams and this gorgeous Resist Tile Java Boudoir Pillow. 

Moving onto other substantial room elements, let’s talk about this gorgeous Painted Desert Rug. The flat weave design was a great decision to balance the hardwood floors and the pattern mixes well with the vibrant hues in her space… I can’t say enough great things about this style and I love that it can grow with Carson, too. And I can’t forget to share this Maison Bookcase… we loved it so much in Caroline’s bedroom that I wanted nugget to have the exact same one. The open design is great for the space and the height makes it easy to store books, keepsakes, decorative boxes and more of her trinkets and treasures.

Of course I want to talk art because this is where I got a little more bold in the design. Abstracts from local artist Angela Simeone were the first decorative accessories I purchased and I fall more in love with them each day… they’re fun, different and totally inspiring and I love that they are filled with vibrant colors throughout. For the art over Carson’s bed, I sought out CC + Mike to scoop up their Black and White Umbrellas Framed Print because it’s our favorite beach spot and I wanted to incorporate some photography in her boudoir. I then partnered with my online art source, Minted, for snazzy little framed prints to finish off the wall next to her bed [see this Wildflower Bundle Print and this Poppy Pinks Print]. And of course we can’t forget our good friend Gerald the Giraffe… yes we named him! This stuffed animal head was the perfect touch above her tiny reading nook and another eclectic decorative detail with the perfect mix of whimsy and playful.

 

Finally, let’s not forget Miss Priss’ closet… it’s all about functionality and organization when it comes to this walk-in wonder… baskets filled with everyday essentials are easily categorized with chalk labels and patterned bins and baskets add a little fun pop as well. My favorite detail has to be this new Little Artist Shelf, which is a sweet way to display her masterpieces and special keepsake drawings, pictures and accessories.
