We’re back in the normal school schedule and I’m not sure about you, but my girls [and us parents if I’m being honest] thrive on a schedule… especially when it comes to our bedtime routine! Caroline has recently started going to her school’s library, checking out one book a week and she absolutely LOVES to come home and show us her newest treasure [last week was all about Manatees and this week she checked out a book about Wombats–a future zoologist perhaps?!?!].
With that, I’ve always said reading to the girls is something I find so important… it helps mellow us out a bit before bed and I’m hoping that it will help them learn to read, master other language skills and learn about specific topics. Carson has been in speech therapy for a few months now as we are working on her fronting issue, which is mixing up G/D sounds and C/T sounds and reading aloud each day is helping her master these letters and correct enunciations, too.
Today, I’m partnering up with my friend Megan, who is an Usborne Book Consultant and has been gracious enough to let me share their amazing stories + books with my blog friends! If you’ve never heard of Usborne, it’s a company who is passionate about improving literacy by changing the world, one book at a time. They seek to foster strong family values, while educating our children, as they know the future is in the hands of our youth. They have more than 1,800 books in their catalog, ranging from soft creative baby books all the way to chapter books for young adults so it’s a one-stop shop for all the children in your life.
Our Most Recent Favorites: Nibbles the Book Monster and Nibbles: The Dinosaur Guide
We have been reading Usborne titles since my girls were tee tiny, starting with the 123 Counting Book and Baby’s First Noisy Nursery Rhymes and have now progressed to the Preschool and Kindergarten Titles, including Anne of Green Gables and Listen and Learn First Spanish Words.
