I feel like it’s all one big blur right now… life, work, personal and everything in between. I told you we thrive in chaos, right?!?!?! Maybe I spoke too soon.
is it weird how much floor plans make me happy??
With that being said, if you’ve been following via Instagram stories, my daily site visits have taken over and I am LOVING seeing all the progress our contractor and his team have made so far. We’ve also been extremely lucky in mostly dry weather and mild temps so they could tackle the complete demolition of 75% of our house.
I promised to keep you up to date on all that’s happening with the renovation so here is a roundup of some of the biggest transformations taking place right now!
First things first, the exterior of our home is getting quite a major transformation. Our happy mellow yellow will soon be painted white. All white brick with all white trim, coupled with dark grey shutters = my dream home status!
currently yellow… coming in spring 2018= brand new white exterior!!!
Now we turn to kitchen progress… from a complete teardown AKA gut job, it’s going to be one HUGE, open room, with tons of cabinetry, a longer island, built-in banquette seating and a bigger butler’s pantry area, perfect for entertaining
Moving right along, let’s head upstairs to what used to be my Sugar Bit inventory room. We knew we needed to add square footage to our house and the rear portion is where we are able to do that [thank goodness]. We are now finishing out the space to add an extra guest suite and then pushing out the area over our master bedroom and garage to complete another play/media room and an extra storage room!
They have completed the demolition, and are now framing out the new space. Fresh new windows that match the rest of the house, a full on-suite guest bath and closet will be perfect for more overnight guests. We will also be installing hardwoods, so no more carpet in our home anymore = YAY!!
the current state of the back of our home… look at that new bedroom suite going right up!
Finally, let’s visit the master bedroom. Our boudoir was actually fairly small for our home, so we knew we wanted to add some space to make it more livable for us, so we are removing our outdoor covered patio and adding that onto our master to give us a seating area… I cannot wait. I don’t have any images to share of our master bathroom right now as they were working on it when I went by a few days ago, but we are redoing that entire room as well. The design was just outdated and totally not functional for us so that will be AMAZING to have more storage, a clean aesthetic and a larger shower, too.
So stay tuned… it’s going to be one wild ride!! So much happening in such a short amount of time and it definitely gets us excited to see what our forever home is going to look like once we are done. And yes, the ever so talented Kendall Simmons and I are plotting loads of FANTASTIC design and decor all throughout = pure happiness!
