Five on Friday… The October Edit

Uncategorized

November 2, 2018

Hey there friends… it’s been AWHILE since I’ve done the full on press for all things Five on Friday, but I thought today would be the perfect opportunity for a proper brain dump of things occupying my mind, all the goodness that October brought our way! Here goes nothing:

ONE | A Happy and Haunted Halloween

As the years go by, it’s interesting to see how costume preferences change… I’ll be the first one to admit that I am sad to see that the “cute and coordinating” costumes Caroline and Carson used to indulge me in are now gone, but just as Mimi told me the other night, letting them pick what THEY want to wear is even more special in their eyes and that’s all that matters. So yes, we had a few costume changes throughout the evening [totally normal right?!?!] but it was the PERFECT family fun-filled Halloween… laid back, relaxing and tons of fun. I hope I never forget their faces in awe as they walk up to each house and say “trick or treat” in their cutest little girl voices. Melt. My. Heart!

Circus Monkey or The Greatest Showman… you decide 😉

Evie and Mal… The Descendants Debut!

You know Mimi and I NEVER miss a chance to dress up!

All the Girls…

Me and my little ladies… pay special attention to those amazing carved pumpkins in the background–Daddy Jeff’s handiwork–and yes, he was really pleased with himself [haha]

TWO | The Murder Mystery Party

If you guys are on the hunt for a totally fun and exciting party theme, this is something you need to mark down for future reference. Our friends hosted their inaugural Murder Mystery Party last weekend and it was SUCH a great idea!!! Basically the party host orders a kit, mails out character assignments [which includes costume ideas, prop needs, background story, etc] and then the rest is all contained within the party kit. For the first round of murder, they went with a Roaring 20s theme and as you can tell, we all LOVED it. They have a ton of other options to choose from their website HERE and yes, planning has already started for next year’s party, too! Poor Petey… he got the axe but all was in SUCH GOOD fun.

THREE | Fashionable Finds

It’s been a bit since I’ve done a proper upload of some of my favorite dressing room diaries and selfie shopping finds, so since fall has finally taken over, I thought it was the proper time to do a download of some fan favorites that came home with me this past month!

FOUR | Grandparents Night at School

Have I mentioned HOW much I love our elementary school??? Our entire community is absolutely incredible when it comes to supporting Scales and it’s really exciting to see everyone jump on board to raise funds to help out… last month, we held our annual Book Fair and Grandparents Night and of course Caroline and Carson were thrilled to get to take their Mimi and Pappy to their school for teacher meet-and-greet and to stock up on some new reads!

FIVE | Caroline and Carson… My Dynamic Duo’s Style

Ever since I closed up shop with Sugar Bit, I can’t lie… it’s been tricky trying to find “new” favorite places to shop for my girls. We have a few persnickety personalities and picking out our ensembles can be quite tricky when you’re trying to please two little fashionistas [yes, I know I have done this to myself]. Having said that, I am always getting DMs and emails about where I shop for them now so I thought it would be helpful to post some recent outfit shots with some of our go-to destinations for stocking up on everything for your little ones.

Big Button Jacket [great basic jacket for fall… so many color options, too] | Arrow Print Swing Dress | Floral Babydoll Dress | Tall Riding Boots [yes they are even cuter in person!!]

Spooky Print Dresses–both from Eleanor Rose [an online must-shop for holiday and seasonal finds… trust me, you will love it ALL–I might have already gotten a bunch of their holiday dresses #oops]

This is called “Sunday night chic” AKA Daddy was out of town and we wanted to get out, but dressed in our “yummies” | Patagonia Jackets 1 and 2 [A MUST for my ladies each year] | Patterned Workout Leggings | Houseshoes 1 [sold out] and 2

Yellow Flutter Sleeve Blouse | Polka Dot Leggings | Fur Boots | Sequin Flip Shirt | Flare Star Skirt | Leggings | Gray Booties | Pom Pom Headband

Twill Green Field Jacket | Tea Collection Dresses | Silver Sneakers | Cognac Booties

  1. Toni :0) says:

This was a fun post! I love how you call jammies “yummies!” Question, did you ever do “after” photos of your Renovation all done? I know you had posts for during construction and just wondering if I missed the after photos somewhere.? ?Have a nice weekend.
