Well, well, well… what have we here?!?! If you’re like me, you want to create a kitchen that obviously has function, but when you add a decorative element to cookware + appliances, it’s a win win that everyone can enjoy–plus it’s prettier to look at and makes you want to cook more [maybe that’s just me but it’s the truth]. Plus, who doesn’t want a little extra glam on their kitchen counter or in their appliance garage for easy access. I’m going to be sharing a few of my newest finds for the kitchen AND giving you a few recipes to add to your list for easy reference!

The first item that caught my eye immediately was this 6QT Enamel Dutch Oven in Sage Green. I have a handful of dutch ovens and I love the size of this one, perfect for soup Sundays and/or yummy pot roast for busy weeknight dinners. One thing I love about a dutch oven is the versatility… the cast iron construction is ideal for cooking on the stove and/or in the oven and then easily transports to your tabletop for family-style serving. Of course the fabulous color combinations don’t hurt either [no worries, neutral lovers, there are white and black options, too].

Ready for a recipe that’ll make the Italians jealous?? I just baked this lasagna last night and it was incredible… and yes ma’am, all from the convenience of my new Dutch Oven! Here are all the details for this deliciousness:

INGREDIENTS

• 6 slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
• 1/2 of a shallot, minced
• 1 lb. ground sweet italian sausage
• 1 jar of your favorite tomato sauce
• 1/2 cup red wine [i used a syrah blend and it was perfect]
• 8 oz cream cheese
• 6-8 oven ready lasagna noodles
• 8 oz shredded mozzarella
• fresh basil leaves and parmesan cheese for topping

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees… In a large dutch oven, brown the bacon until crispy, then add the shallots and saute for 5 minutes or until soft and fragrant. Next, add in italian sausage and brown until no longer pink. Drain off all the excess grease.
2. Add the tomato sauce and wine to the meat in the dutch oven and simmer for 10 minutes over medium low heat. Then stir in the cream cheese until melted.
3. Break each of the lasagna noodles into 3 or 4 pieces. Stir them into the meat mixture so they are completely covered in sauce, and arrange so that they are all laying flat in the pan.
4. Top with shredded mozzarella and bake for 25 minutes. Let stand for 5-10 minutes and top with fresh basil and parmesan cheese.

Moving right along, let’s talk cookware. Since Jeff and I both enjoy cooking–I know I’m lucky he loves it too– we’ve had our fair share of ups and downs when it comes to pots and pans and what works best, as we have our own preferences. I grabbed both the 11″ Square Griddle Pan and the 7QT Jumbo Cooker and have been using both on repeat the past few weeks.

Also oven safe and crafted of scratch-resistant nonstick coating, even you beginners can make incredible dishes with this durable pan and griddle combo. Suffice to say my girls went GAGA over this one since they are the official smoothie makers in our household and are constantly concocting new varieties to keep things fresh [and full of veggies since that’s the only sneaky way I can get them to eat them anymore!]
