The fun outings and events you’ll want to take note of, mark on your calendar, or surprise your elves this season with a fun shindig to mark everyone’s favorite time of the year. So I’ve assembled 10+ reasons to get out there and celebrate all things Christmas in the best city ever:
The Best Holiday Activities in Nashville
Gaylord Opryland Resort. A family favorite amongst visitors and locals alike, the Gaylord Opryland Resort hosts a holiday wonderland from November 12-January 2nd. with over 3 million lights, they plus you’ll find pictures with Santa, carriage rides, sleigh rides, ice skating, dinner shows, and more!
Holiday LIGHTS at Cheekwood. The beloved Cheekwood Gardens know how to celebrate every season and the holidays are no exception. from November 20 – January 9, you can enjoy over 1 million lights across the 55 acres of gardens. they also feature holiday cocktail and s’mores stations plus a reindeer villages so the whole family will enjoy!
Nashville’s Nutcracker at TPAC. An annual tradition in our family, seeing the Nutcracker Ballet at the TPAC is a must! you’ll enjoy a magical performance from your favorite characters like the Sugar Plum Fairy and Madam BonBon while taking in the sights of their dazzling costumes and beautiful sets.
General Jackson Christmas Cruise. Cruise down the Cumberland aboard the General Jackson Cruise for some holiday dinner and show. featuring your favorite Christmas tunes and beautiful views of the city.
Christmas Vacation at the Franklin Theatre. Make it a family movie night out at the Franklin Theatre where they will be showing the classic holiday favorites including Elf, Christmas Vacation, and more through December 21st. see their website for details!
Christmas Tree Lighting. Kick off the holiday with the whole town at Franklin Square. on December 3rd, the town will gather for the annual tree lighting where there will be performances, games, and a special visit from Santa!
Bobby Hotel Rooftop. Up on the rooftop of the Bobby Hotel in downtown Nashville, you’ll find festive pop up “camp bobby”. here you can enjoy ice skating, fire pits, themed cocktails and treats, and campsite igloos available to rent for a night of festive fun.
Christmas at the Ryman. Visit the Mother Church of Nashville for the holiday residency of Amy Grant and Vince Gill where they will perform Christmas favorites running December 13-20.
Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Make it a night out and see one of the many holiday concerts hosted at one of the most beautiful music venues in Nashville. from Jennifer Nettles to the Nashville Symphony, there are so many great performances this year
Franktown Festival of Lights. A way to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season right from your car! each night of the week there will be a drive thru lights experience plus fire pits, s’mores and more!
Dickens of a Christmas. Step back in time for the 36th annual festival in downtown Franklin where the time of Charles Dickens is recreated through various dancers, music, characters and more! this event runs through December 11th and 12th.
Santa Sips at the Zoo. This one’s for the adults, on December 11 the Nashville Zoo will be hosting a night out complete with cocktails, performances, food trucks, and more. grab your favorite party animals and enjoy!
