One of my goals for this year has been to read a book a month. I could’ve set some lofty goal for myself, but I was attemtping to be practical and I am making it happen. 6 books in 6 months and almost done with July’s book as well. Reading before bed totally helps me put the technology away, slip away into another universe for 20-30 minutes and it’s become one of my favorite nighttime routines, especially when I travel. Here’s a little insight as to what I’ve been reading in 2022 and my rating for each:
one. the paris library. Set in Paris during World War II and then in the 1980s in rural Montana, this one follows the life of Ddile, a parisian girl finding her way through life… helping to keep the American Pris Library open during the occupation and then how she helps those who have now been forbidden to enter and/or check out books. Hands down one of my favorites and I love the dual timeframe setup as well! rating: 9/10
two. the last house guest. Again, I’ve said it time and time again how much I enjoy books that occur in two different times and this is another one to add to that list. It follows a friend after the death of her bestie and how she unearths the real truth on what happened during the last house party. A little hard to stay with it during the middle, but still a good read. rating: 7/10
three. living fully by mallory ervin. Mallory has the most incredible story… and this autobiography gives the detailed insight into her youth all the way to her current life of being a wife and mother. She divulges the good, the bad and the ugly, including her personal experiences with substance abuse and how she finally got her life on track with what she wanted to achieve in life and gives tips on how to help you live your fullest life. So proud of this fellow blogger + Nashvillian and momboss!! rating: 8/10
four. the last thing he told me. When Hannah’s husband Owen disappears on one random day, she instantly knows something isn’t right. She travels with her step-daughter trying to figure out what happened AND why he would simply up and leave his family. A winner for me as I finished this one in just three days! rating: 8/10
five. the paris apartment. It’s safe to say I have a thing with books set in Paris this year… and this one kept me guessing from beginning to end. Lucy Foley has quickly become one of my go-to authors because of her suspenseful style and the characters are always riveting. Trust me, there is something to be said about apartment life in the big city. rating: 7/10
six. the seven husbands of evelyn hugo. Hands down my #1 read of 2022 so far is this one. I couldn’t put it down! Old Hollywood glamour as one of the most renowned actresses tells the entire story of her love life, including her seven husbands and everything in between. I heard they are turning this one into a movie and I cannot wait! rating: 10/10
