When our new family assistant, Grace, started back in August, she came up with the idea of Jeff and I sitting down with her at the end of each week to make sure we have all ducks in a row for the week ahead and it’s been absolutely amazing for our overall producitivity and family scheduling… not to mention having to avoid the Sunday Scaries because we already have a game plan for how the week will function.
I wanted to hop on here today to share our meeting method, what’s working for us and to offer a template you can print out and use at your home, too… all things to set up your next week for success!!
First of all, the outline of how we structure our meetings is incuded below… basically a way for us to work smarter, not harder. We started with chatting about wins and then move onto an area of improvement so it’s goal setting as well.
The most helpful part of our chat is going through each day the following week = mapping out pick-ups/drop-offs, who’s in charge of getting girls to their after school activities, and then talking about any appointments/meetings/client dinners/etc. We like to make sure the family Google calendar is updated so everyone is in the know!
Another aspect is talking through travel = whether work/business/family or a mixture, we look ahead for 30 days to see what that looks like, do we need help with the kids/dog/etc?
Next up, we meal plan and work on a grocery list for Grace to tackle Monday morning = saving us lots of time, money and that way we have a plan for each night!
Finally, we look at other ongoing projects that need to be attended to [rental homes in Florida, updates to my website, any upcoming partnerships I have, Jeff’s obligations for financial reconciliation, and more].
* As we all know, weeks never go to plan but having a method to the madness ALWAYS ensures everyone is organized and efficient with their time and what we have going on… plans change of course, but there is SO much room for flexibility even with a plan like this in place! Below I’ve included our weekly mindmap for our check-in:
