I said it before and I’ll say it again… my accountability register goes UP, UP, UP when I am working with others. This month, I am joining forces with two amazing mamas–Heather via My Life Well Loved and Jessica from Happily Hughes for an all new fitness challenge, mom style!
Are you ready to get set and get fit for fall?? Yes, for some reason I’m one of those weirdos who gets their best body in the colder months/winter when I’m bundled up in cardigans, boots and sweaters = how weird is that?!?!
So… what does the Mom’s Fitness Challenge look like?!? Here’s the easy steps to participate [and yes, we are operating on the honor system here my friends]:
ONE | Drink Enough Water… Say Yo to the H2O
Put more of that high quality H2O into your system moms!! It sounds like such a small difference, but it truly sets you up for success. I try to drink at least 55-60 oz. of water a day–if you’re trying to gauge your proper amount, it’s roughly half of your body weight, so if you weigh 130, that’s 65 oz. It helps cleanse your body from all the garbage and keeps you hydrated, which is a MUST for getting fit and healthy. If you’re like me, it also helps if you invest in a fun water bottle to provide a little eye candy for extra motivation. Two of my favorites include this Looking Good Water Bottle and this Coral Glass Dot Water Bottle.
TWO | Talk To Your Doctor and Find a Chiropractor… How Did I Get So Old?!?!
Let’s preface this one first my ladies… make sure before you start a new workout regimen, you talk to your doctor!! That way, they can make sure your body is ready to tackle this new endeavor and prevent unwanted mishaps or injuries. Also, let’s discuss the benefit of a chiropractor–I’ve gone to a few back in the day, but that is a goal I want to get on board with again. They help alleviate pain, work on ways to better protect your joints and bones and let’s all take some extra time for a little more self-care… are you with me?!?! Remember, we can’t care for our littlest loves if we aren’t investing in ourselves so don’t put your health on the backburner.
THREE | Find Your Favorite Workout Class… and Bust a Move
Another way to stay accountable for fitness challenges?? Make sure you find a workout class you love and get it done. I’ve tried it all–from boxing to zumba, OrangeTheory to barre, trust me… I’ve walked the line of anything and everything and what keeps me coming back for more are HIIT workout classes and programs. If you don’t have time to make it to the gym, you can use at-home workouts like Sweat with Kayla which I LOVE. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and try the newest cycling class, ramp up to reformer pilates, schedule a few one-on-one personal training classes–trust me, it’s FUN to try something new!
FOUR | Invest in New Workout Staples… Shopping is My Cardio
Yes, treat yourself to some new threads and it’ll get you motivated to make it to the gym! Whether you’re expecting or you’ve got the mom bod [yes it’s something to be proud of!], all new activewear can get your booty in gear and have you EXCITED to tackle gym time each day. Here are a few new favs I added to my workout wardrobe recently that I am loving:
Star Crossed Crop Leggings [on sale for $41] | Dry Training Tank [just $25] | Thea Sneaker [runs small so size up!]
Live-In Crop Leggings [so good I bought all three colors… run TTS and great fit, well made]
FIVE | Breath, Stretch, and Shake… Yes You Heard Me
I’m TOTALLY guilty of this one y’all… usually once I am done with my workout, the last thing I want to do is spend another 5-10 minutes stretching it out, BUT I know it’s super important so I am vowing to do better. Not only does it help improve flexibility and aid in helping your body recover after a workout, it’s a HUGE stress reliever as well. Not to mention a few minutes of peace and quiet does the body good since we rarely get a minute alone, right?!?!
So there you have it ladies… five foolproof and SUPER simple ways to jump-start your fitness and get you on track for all things working out. Remember, small changes add up to big results. Build your base and then there is only one way to go from there!
Based on your feedback from all things Instagram, I’m hoping to integrate more fitness and work-out related material into the blog and social media… SO TELL ME, what would help you get back on track and get motivated to get your best body?!?!
Love this! Since I am an avid worker outer (is that a word) this is totally up my alley! Love home workouts.
TOTALLY a word!!!! Love it…thanks so much Lynn 😉
