I mentioned this sentiment a little more than a week ago when I posted this image on my Instagram. but it spoke to me for so many reasons and I wanted to get a little more candid on the blog today and share some of my personal feelings on this time of everything back-to-school and how it’s more than just a few start for our kids.

You’ve seen me partner with Evereve on a number of occasions and I absolutely love everything that this brand believes in and holds dear, but when they came out with a campaign directed to #MOMSNEWYEARS and having the opportunity to talk about this through social media, I was thrilled to have the chance to participate and discuss what I think about a brand new school year.
So, what is meaning behind #MOMSNEWYEARS? Basically, it’s school’s back in session and it’s time for mom to celebrate… it’s a chance for us to unite in anticipation and excitement and a bit of relief if I’m being quite honest. Like many of you, I spent this summer juggling my girls between summer camps, our sitter who saved me so I could focus on work when I needed to, playdates with friends, weekends traveling… you know how it goes!
As much as we all love the spontaneity that summer brings, it’s also completely exhausting and there is comfort and familiarity that comes with routine [came I get an amen?!?!] Someone told me that moms are like cruise directors each summer, providing days and days of endless entertainment, and I find that sentiment to be 110% true!

For me, #MOMSNEWYEARS is all about developing new routines. I’ve got a brand new office and I am ready to get down to business for everything blog related for fall and beyond. I’ve been brainstorming my editorial calendar for all that’s to come… topics I want to talk more about, plans to share the details of our home renovation that I know you’ve all been anxiously awaiting, more fashion posts for top trends this season [budget friendly of course!!], extra beauty tutorials for how I curl my hair, my full-on face makeup routine–the list goes on and on. If I complain about lack of creative juices flowing, go ahead and call my bluff… you have my permission ;).
Anyways, it’s time… ready to dive back into real life, and MAYBE, just maybe enjoy a little free time to myself. It’s kinda like a mid-year New Year’s–a great time to reevaluate goals, set new mini-resolutions and of course relish in what’s coming!! I might have shed a few tears in anticipation of the girls embarking on their new adventures in school, but I’m ready to get back to what I LOVE doing—working in my new office—styling, writing, and collaborating in a creative community that has brought me so much JOY for 10+ years!!
This week, I am starting Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis and I cannot wait to read this book I’ve heard so many people rave about… if you’ve finished it, I can’t wait to hear about what you took away from this page turner. I’m also back at it with my personal trainer, starting an all new fitness routine so I can invest more time into working out and getting back to where I feel is my “happy weight” and doing more of the Mom’s Fitness Challenge I talked about last week. Just know that it’s GOOD to prioritize yourself and stock up on a little much-needed time for yourself and not feel guilty about it!

FINALLY, I would LOVE to hear what YOU are looking forward to for #MOMSNEWYEARS… send those cuties off to school and make your days count my friends OXOX
LOVE this concept and it is so true! Our new year is only in January as our school year runs from February – November and our Summer holiday is in December/January. But I love the fresh start that it brings and the routine and structure and discipline it brings back into my life too x
