five tips for setting yourself up for daily success

Uncategorized

February 4, 2026

I’m all about embracing tools + processes that make life BETTER and much more productive… notice how I am incorporating my 2026 word of the year there??? For me, I’ve started integrating a few new practices into my daily routine and I can sense a few changes that have been really positive since = so I thought it would serve as a helpful resource to share my top five tricks and tips for setting your day up for success. After all, it doesn’t start at your desk—it starts with how you enter the day! Intentional habits and lessons learned from a 40+ year old working mama who loves to multitask…

Number One. Start the Day My Way

I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s certainly worth saying again… before I go to bed each night, I take my phone and plug it into its charger in my bathroom. Not only is it out of sight and out of mind, but it makes mindless late-night scrolling a thing of the past and helps me get into that restful mindset before I turn off the lights.

Another pro tip to note? Go ahead and flip on your Do Not Disturb — those post-9PM text chains and random pop-ups can absolutely wait until morning! Creating a peaceful sleep environment is one of the simplest ways to set yourself up for success before the next day even begins.

PRO TIP | At night, I also like to take a few minutes to do a quick house reset — fluff the pillows, run the dishwasher, clean off the kitchen island and peek at the calendar. Trust me, waking up to a tidy space and a game plan feels like a tiny gift you left for your future self.

Number Two. Resist the Urge to Grab Your Phone

As soon as I wake up, I used to immediately open my phone and start scrolling, checking emails and catching up on social media. A few months ago, I swapped that habit for a quick 5-minute daily devotional journal and it has been a total gamechanger — helping me get my mind right, take a few extra seconds to pray for the day ahead, and pause before the daily chaos sets in.

Other easy wins? Drink a glass of water before your coffee, do a fast stretch, step outside for a breath of fresh air, or simply sit in silence before the kids and husband wake up. Those quiet moments are rare in our busy household, so I’ve learned to protect them. Think of it this way: instead of letting the world immediately talk to you, give yourself a moment to decide how you want to show up first.

Number Three. Create a Morning Routine

It doesn’t have to be some overdone, fancy routine where it’s a 10-step process… simply choose ONE non-negotiable you want for your morning and make it a priority!! You’re choosing presence over reaction — and that small shift makes a big difference.

Keep at it for a week straight and see if you sense a change in your demeanor. Maybe it’s writing down your daily to-do’s, squeezing in a quick workout, or going on a short walk around the neighborhood. Either way, routine builds confidence and helps keep your day running smoothly.

For me, that one simple morning must-do is making my bed. I do it every single day and it helps me know at least one area in our home is tidy — and let’s be honest, with kids in the mix, we celebrate every little victory we can get!

Number Four. The Top Three

Before emails, before socials… write it down!! Yep, this is where my handy dandy stationery [shop my go-to list maker here and use NATASHA10 for 10% off] comes into play because it helps me figure out exactly what needs to be done during my day.

Here’s my simple formula: 1 Must Do | 1 Growth Task | 1 Feel-Good Win

Sure, other things may pop up here and there, BUT if everything falls apart, this gives me a way to still keep the day successful and productive. I’m a big believer that progress fuels motivation — and crossing things off your list creates instant momentum. Don’t underestimate the power of a small win… it can turn your entire day around. And remember to leave some white space for intentional breaks throughout the day because burnout isn’t productive = preaching to the choir here!!

Number Five. Dress for the Day

And finally, I made a promise to myself this year that I would truly get dressed every day… because late in 2025, I could sense myself slipping into the workout clothes or loungewear trap, and it absolutely affected my overall attitude and productivity.

So I decided to change things up in 2026 and get dressed on the daily. Putting on a cute sweater and denim goes A LONG WAY — so I challenge you to try it for a week and see how it impacts your days, too.

Not only does it shift your mindset, but it helps you dress with intention and give yourself some much-deserved self-respect. Depending on the day (and what Nashville weather decides to do!), that may help guide what you pull from your wardrobe. And remember — you don’t need a special occasion to show up as your best self. Sometimes the simple act of getting ready is the confidence boost you didn’t know you needed.
P.S. a little Spanx reset goes a long way = sure it may feel like you’re wearing your favorite pajamas, but my AirEssentials Set never fails when it comes to everyday errands, travel and of course all things mom life. [wearing small in top, XS in pants]

Finally, it’s OK to remember that a successful day isn’t perfect—it’s adjustable so feel free to change these 5 tips and tricks to see what works best for you. You’re allowed to pivot, but my final little tidbit to share is to end your day with a WIN… note one thing you completed OR one thing you’re grateful for. It trains your mind to look for progress, not pressure and we all want to go to sleep feeling happy!
