She Said YES!

wedding

August 17, 2009

Oh another relaxing weekend in Natashaland… NOT! But I wouldn’t have it any other way because– in VERY exciting news, my best friend and roommate got ENGAGED this weekend to her beau, Aaron! What started off to an uneventful Friday night changed quickly when I got the call from her. I was in the process of trying to salvage the pizza I had burned for Jeff and I (so much for an easy dinner) when she called and I of course dropped the phone and said “WE’RE ON OUR WAY!”‘
We picked up a bottle of champagne on the way and headed over to Aaron’s place to celebrate with the happy couple. I expected my best friend to be the normal emotional basketcase that she is when big events occur, but she was so composed and poised and just smiled from ear to ear… I don’t think I have ever seen her so calm, but I know she was still in a state of shock! It was so much fun to be able to see her calling her friends and family to tell them the good news and I am so thankful we were in town to be able to share this joyous occasion with them.

The Background Story

I can remember it like it was yesterday…. Meg had gone to an Auburn/UT Alumni event at the Red Door in November 2007 (I couldn’t attend due to prior engagements), but she came home and told me she had met someone. His name was Aaron and he had gone to AU–the poor sucker– but nonetheless, he seemed like a great guy and they exchanged numbers and talked.
Well the next weekend, my company had our annual Christmas party downtown at the Wildhorse Saloon. Coincidentally, I work with one of Aaron’s friends’ twin brothers so they all came to meet us for drinks afterwards. I remember meeting Aaron and introducing myself as her roommate (although I don’t think I needed to, he knew who I was-HA!). Funny enough, we got along great and started our tequila friendship that very night-LOL.
From the moment Aaron and Meg began dating, she was a changed person. He brings out the best out in her and I knew pretty early on that this was ‘THE ONE’ for my precious Malcorn. She glows because she is so genuinely happy and they are the perfect compliment for one another. Aaron is kind and giving and compassionate and Meg is the vivacious outspoken one–so much that I can’t think of a better match! This is the kind of true love that only some people are lucky enough to find and I know they are going to embark on a new chapter in life together, planning not only a wedding, but planning a life together, and I am so fortunate that I get to be there to experience the ride with her–it’s going to be a fun one!
CONGRATULATIONS BEST FRIEND… I LOVE YOU MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY AND THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH AN INCREDIBLE PERSON!! YOU DESERVE ALL THE HAPPINESS IN THE WORLD MRS. GRUNKE!
