On a Tennessee Saturday Night…

UT

September 8, 2009

What a fantastic end to a wonderful summer… this Labor Day weekend was by far one of the best I’ve ever had–football, family, and fun– I love weekends where you can spend quality time with your favorite people… it sure does make it easier to come back to work because you feel refreshed!! Let’s recap…
Friday evening, Jeff and I headed to Knoxville and met our friends Jay and Ashley for dinner with their brand new baby, James. Adorable is an understatement for this baby… oh so sweet!! We finally got to give them their baby gifts too, which included this perfect little baby bank from Swoozies!! Later that evening, we took it easy and rented a movie at Jeff’s house– “The Last House on the Left” — note to self: if you’re looking for a suspense thriller with lots of intense moments, this is for you, if not DO NOT WATCH! It was a good movie, but to put it nicely, I definitely didn’t sleep so well that night… next time I’ll be sticking to a light-hearted romance before I head to slumber =)
Then, the day FINALLY came that I’d been counting down to for months…the kick-off to what promises to be a high energy and jampacked fun football season of UT football…we got up bright and early, headed to The Fresh Market for some yummy breakfast, and then waited for my parents to arrive so we could ride together to the game. What a beautiful day in Knox, too! The fans were out in full force– there is nothing like seeing a sea of cars with football flags waving on their cars and hearing Rocky Top over and over again– what a rush! I didn’t realize how much I had missed it all (tear!)
We tailgated and then headed over early so we could see all the action before the game started. For those of you who don’t know, our Neyland Stadium is in the middle of a renovation, but it looks INCREDIBLE! It won’t be completely finished until next season, but I am so impressed with what all they’ve done so far… it looks like a brand new stadium and I’m happy to call it home. A special shout out to Peyton Manning, who contributed another $1 million to his alma mater– what a great guy! Then the fun began… here’s all my pictures from the game- ENJOY!

After the game, we headed back to Jeff’s house to rest up before dinner– and what a big dinner it was– my parents and Jeff’s mom finally met! We had a great time at Agave Azul (one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in K-town) and then joined Bev and Christian with their families at their house that night (after roasting at the game, we wanted to take it easy- LOL)
Sunday morning, I had brunch at Copper Cellar with old friends Adrianne and Chris- they were in town for the weekend too and it was GREAT to be able to catch up and see them…I loved every minute. That afternoon, we ran errands and then made the last minute decision to go home to Nashville… we were so tired from the previous 2 days that we wanted to be able to enjoy Labor Day at home. Then yesterday was spent with friends at the pool, taking in one last soaking session before officially calling my summer complete… WHAT A WEEKEND!
