{All About Me: ‘Tis the Season}

Uncategorized

December 17, 2009

In case you haven’t noticed, I love doing rando surveys–and this one is right up my alley with Christmas only 8 days away {yes, I said 8 days… better finish up those last minute gifts!!} Sure, we all have our memorable Christmas-isms that we have become famous for, and this may help enlighten you how I celebrate the most special time of the year:
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Growing up, my mother was notorious for the “perfect gift wrap”. She always had ornaments on each package, and she still does it… basically now, I copy her idea, but change it up a bit… I paint ornaments to make them personal {yes I will post pictures of this ASAP}
2. Real tree or artificial?
Granted, I love the smell of a real tree {maybe this is why Yankee Candle Mistletoe is my favorite scent and I would keep it up all year long}, but for practicality, I’ll keey my fake tree until next year when I get to have a BUNCH — hehe

3. When do you put up the tree?
Normally, the weekend after Thanksgiving… with being out of town this year, roomie and I did it the week before
4. Do you like eggnog?
No-thank-you {but I will drink some of this instead- a pomegranate martini}

5. Favorite gift received as a child?

Hmmm.. this is hard!! Probably my electric car… kinda like the Power Wheels, but mine came out before the Barbie Jeep- my grandparents still have it and I hope we can pass it down one day

6. Do you have a nativity scene?
No, but I am hoping that is something Mommy AKA Santa can spoil me with next year once I have a home of my own =) {this one is adorable!!}

7. Hardest person to buy for?

My Grandfather–not only does he have everything he needs, but if he finds something he wants, he buys it himself… grr!!!

8. Easiest person to buy for?
MOM– I know her like the back of my hand

9. Mail or email Christmas cards?
One of the only times throughout the year I use the post office!!  A little money goes a long way, and friends and family love getting Christmas cards– I know I do!!
These are mine from this year:
10. Favorite Christmas movie?
Love Actually– get out the Kleenex!!

11. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Usually Black Friday!!!! Yes, my Mom and I are in the crazy group that gets out each year to throw down for a discounted scarf  or useless electronic =)

12. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
My Grandmother’s divinity–it’s the only time of the year she makes it and it’s a fight to get more than 1 piece

13. Clear lights or colored lights on the tree?

CLEAR!!! Sorry to my future kids in advance… this woman will ever only have clear lights… the epitomy of Southern Classic Christmas= WHITE LIGHTS!
14. Favorite Christmas song?

Carol of the Bells and Jingle Bells (The Barbra Streisand version)
**Note, my roomie Meg despises this song, but it’s my absolute favorite and my Mom and I sing it EVERY year before we listen to any other holiday songs… have a listen

15. Travel or stay home at Christmas?
STAY AT HOME– I always want to play with my goodies

16. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
I can sing them too

17. Angel on tree top or star?
Star
18. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Christmas morning… one year we opened all of our presents that night and it was so depressing the next morning= never again
19. The most annoying thing about this time of year?
Traffic and the rude people who steal parking spots… one word–TOWANDA!!

20. What I love most about Christmas…

Spending quality time with my family, going to Dicken’s Christmas in Franklin, decorating with my Mom while singing holiday tunes, Christmas Day lunch at my Gran’s house, and savoring every moment of this special season

So ready for next week to be here already… and yes, I am the adult who acts like a little kid, praying and crossing my fingers because I want it to snow in Nashville on Christmas… PLEASE!!

  1. Mrs. Wife says:

    I love white lights too! sounds like you will be having a fun Christmas.

  2. Love that you featured our Christmas card! We got it… so cute!

  3. Meg says:

    I am singing the song in my head now…haha! Can't wait for ALL your trees next year!!!

  4. mackenzie says:
