This weekend was a pure slice of heaven in my book… those kind of weekends that are so much fun that you dread jumping back into work mode because you’re still elated from the span of events. Let’s recap:
Friday night, Jeff and I relaxed after work and then headed to see Robin Hood at the movie theater with everyone else in Nashville. Needless to say, Fandango rescued us again and we flew to the front of the line. What was even funnier is that there was a crowd of “YMCA groupies” that sat near us and while they chewed on oats and granola, Jeff and I indugled in Coke and Sour Patch Kids–haha! Overall, we thought the movie was a strong 7 out of 10. Nowhere near Gladiator status , but an entertaining movie good for both guys and girls…
Saturday morning {I know, this is what you’re waiting to hear}, I got ready and picked Meg up and visited Starbucks before we drove out to Franklin for our first appointment at Faccio. We met my Mom–who was beyond excited–and then started our day.
Note: Before I divulge any other details, let me preface this by saying that for anyone that hates weddings, I’m sorry! But hands down, this is the MOST FUN experience I have had yet in my 26 years and I’m going to bask in every moment of this…you only do it once and it is the most special garment I think a girl gets to wear… OK back to the show.
So we walk in and talk with Elizabeth, one of the store owners, and since we had been here before, we knew their process. I love how relaxed they are–they let you decide which gowns you want to try on and then pull each for you. I tried on 10+ dresses here and found one I absolutely loved in dress #2! Because I have a number of personal friends and family that read my blog, I am not going to give too much away for obvious reasons, but the dress is by
Rivini and it is definitely the type of dress I thought I would love. And in the infamous words of Forrest Gump, “that’s all I have to say about that”.
When we wrapped up our first appt, we headed downtown to have lunch at Jackson’s in Hillsboro Village–man, I love that place! Then we walked to our next destination: Village Bridal. Having been there a few times since that is where Meg bought her dress, we knew exactly what to expect. Margaret and Elizabeth were wonderful and let me pick out anything and everything I wanted to try on. At first, I picked out another 10 dresses, but got to #7 and realized there would be no more trying on of “other” dresses… yes, ladies, I found another L O V E dress. The second swwon-worthy dress is from the
Watters collection, and though it has the same fit {trumpet/mermaid} as the Rivini dress, these babies are two completely different gowns to say the least. I didn’t want to take it off-haha!
Our final appointment was at Arzelles and here, I tried on another 13 dresses. Remember, I told you I wanted to have an open mind throughout this process so I was trying on anything and everything taht jumped out to me. Luckily, they had the same Watters dress as Village Bridal so I waited to try it on again last and it didn’t disappoint. No other dress in the store compared to it and I felt like a million bucks.
What an incredible day! I felt blessed to have such an amazing Mom and MOH there with me–they gave me their advice, their opinions, but then let me make the decisions because they know at the end of the day, it’s my dress and I’m the one that gets to wear it.
So, where are we now?? We have narrowed it down to 2 gowns that I am obsessed with–however–I am venturing to
The Bride Room on Friday afternoon to meet with Ms. Stephanie and I am going there not thinking of the other dresses, but to see if my beauty may in fact be something I have yet to see. Plus, they carry Priscilla of Boston which is hands down my favorite designer. Then hopefully, we can make a decision in the next few weeks so stay tuned!
The rest of our weekend was spent having double date night with Meg and Aaron at our beloved Taco Mamacita Saturday night–complete with cadillac margaritas and shots. And yes, we sang this song with the guy in the next table over and over again….I’m sure everyone else hated us, but we were having the time of our lives…
Then came Sunday, which consisted of cleaning the house and doing hoards of laundry. We also invited the parents over to grill out and then called it a night…
Alright, I’m jumping off Cloud 9 now and I’m headed back to reality =(
