Fashionable Friday… Beauty Products!

Uncategorized

May 21, 2010

I have been racking my brain ALL week in the hopes of a perfect post for today–I feel like I have visited all things fashion recently–so I was looking for something a tad bit different, and then I thought, beauty products! It’s so funny how most of us ladies are always trying to find the perfect lipstick or the ideal moisturizer so I thought I’d let you in on my little beauty secrets that I have in my stash and hopefully, I can learn a thing about what my lovely blog friends use too!!
Shampoo and Conditioner
This girl has tried THEM ALL! Trust me, I was a loyal Biolage junkie, then moved on to Tresemme, went back to my old Paul Mitchell ways, and am now using Aveeno…I have read in beauty mags how it’s good to treat your hair to different shampoos… your hair needs a vacation from your normal shampoo, so try switching it up! Granted, I used to use the expensive salon stuff and I couldn’t really tell a difference in my hair {especially seeing as I was spending a fortune on it} so my vote is for the Aveeno–smells great and leaves your hair silky!
Haircare Products
I don’t really use that many products on my fair… for one, I hate how most of them have some sort of greasiness to them and I hate my hair to feel like an oil slick. However, I do use heat protecting spray to protect from my hairdryer and iron, and Biosilk Thermal Shield can’t be beat!!
And for those pety flyways we all get at some point, my go-to hairspray has always been and will forever more be…Aveda Air Control Spray–it is pricey, but it is AMAZING!!
Makeup
As a true southern gal, my Mom showed me the tips and tricks behind makeup from an early age–and always told me this: DON’T BUY THE CHEAP STUFF!! I stuck with this motto since I started wearing makeup and though I may spend a small fortune, I don’t regret my decision because as much as I am in the sun, I need the protection… for most items, I am a Clinique girl through and through–the ingredients are good for my sensitive skin and I love that it’s all fragrance free, too!
Foundation: Even Better Makeup with SPF 15 in Ivory
Blush: Fresh Bloom Allover Colour in Posy
Mascara: the NEW and UBER INCREDIBLE High Lengths Mascara–this stuff is liquid gold in a tube–makes your lashes super long and full!! LOVE IT
Lipgloss, on the other hand, is a completely different story–this is where I venture out-of-the-box and I have to tell you, my favorite is none other than the Beauty Rush line from Victoria’s Secret–not only do they smell delish, but they stay on quite well and they don’t break the bank either!
Skincare
With regards to my normal beauty regime, I stick to what I know works–luckily, I have never had a serious case of acne, so I use Clinique’s daily 3-step skin care system…I use the combination set for dry/oily skin {which depends on the season} and combine the facial soap, clarifying lotion, and dramatically different moisturizing lotion. It can get a bit expensive, but it’s worth it!!
Perfume
Ahh, the loveliness of a feminine fragrance! I am most definitely a girly girl when it comes to perfumes…lots of flowers with NO musk–haha! I have quite a collection in this department and I have a few must haves that I cannot live without… Daisy by Marc Jacobs is my absolute favorite, but I also keep a few others for special occasions– Gucci Eau de Parfum II and Michael Kors Very Hollywood!!
Wow…I cannot show this beauty breakdown to Jeff because then he’ll REALLY know how much I spend on making myself look semi-decent…haha! So, now back to you– what are your favorite, can’t live without it, beauty must-haves???

  1. Thanks for the find tips!! I will have to try the Aveeno shampoo! Before I got married I used Aveda products, and now I've switched to Suave. Boo!

  2. Katie says:

LOVE all your tips! i don't use a foundation (stopped when i used to tan my life away) but now that i'm no longer always tan and i'm growing up i think it's time for me to be a big girl and get some. i'll have to check out clinique!

  3. Sarah Mina says:

I love Clinique makeup! I use their "stay matte" powder since I have oily skin and it serious absorbs all the oil and makes my face look so smooth! It's pretty sheer, but I think it's good for "light coverage" days.

  4. Ashley says:

great tips! I really love Urban Decay's primer for eyeshadow. With the heat, my eye shadow always clumps up. With this primer it stays in place ALL day and night! I think its the best one out there, I particularly like the one with a bit of shimmer too =D

  5. Beth McC. says:

Love this list! I have been eyeing that Daisy perfume I am going to have to check it out!

  6. ens24 says:

great tips, thanks! I actually have 3 different bottles of shampoo in my shower and use a different one each day 🙂 Your clinique finds are all the exact same things i use as well – i just have to tell you that two other products that i LOVE are the following:
clarins instant light complexion perfector and Benefit's hollywood glo – unfortunately this has been discontinued but you can still buy it through other sites if you google it.. it's the best product that you just put on a little dab over your blush..

  7. Jesslee says:

Great list! I have a whole list too that I shared recently :

I'm also having a new give*away that ends today if you'd like to enter 🙂

  8. Brown Girl says:

I think we should be twins, I use all that same stuff, right down to the Daisy by Marc Jacobs!!!
