Bathroom Design… Fail!

Uncategorized

June 18, 2010

Ok so remember when I posted this about redoing our upstairs guest bathroom?? Well, I have been working like a crazy woman this week to get it finished for our favorite guests this weekend–however, after getting 2 coats of paint on the walls and hanging the shower curtain–I absolutely HATED IT! {insert major sad/depressed/frustrated face here}
Strongly dislike would be the nicer term to use here {sorry mom for use of poor words}, though that doesn’t even justify how much I loathed the finished product. Needless to say, I gathered all my receipts together and made the voyage back to Dillards, Target, and Homegoods to take EVERYthing back…and now we’re back to square one.
Thank heavens for friends and Mom to make me feel better about the whole situation, as this is the first time I haven’t liked a room I have decorated in all my years through college and after, so I guess I was due for a small disappointment, right??
With that, I have decided I am going to keep it S I M P L E for the guest bathroom–nothing “trendy” or fun anymore because I can’t take another one of these setbacks… not to mention the thought of having to repaint again makes me want to cringe. Oh well, on to the next one–til I decide, I’ll just be scoping my favorite design sites for inspiration–haha =)
OK so this is where I beg you to send me your best home decor and design websites for inspiration… I’ve got to get back in my groove and shake this utter disaster off my back!!

  1. Aw…at least your'e able to start it over and get to a happy place! I just started reading http://www.younghouselove.com, which has TONS of great decor/DIY posts. It's a great site, adorable couple.

    Good Luck!!

  2. ahhh I have been there and done that- but with our bedroom…

  3. LG says:

Oh I really wish you would have posted a pic! What did you hate about it? What are you looking for in a good guest bath? If you like calm cool colors, simple design, Restoration Hardware paint colors are great, especially Silver Sage..

  4. Sarah Mina says:

This is why it's always good to keep receipts! I'm sure it still looked great, but I know what it's like to finally put all the pieces together only to realize you hate it! Cote de Texas is an awesome decorating blog, you will really like it!

  5. my mom always told me to say strongly dislike too! sorry about your bathroom!!!! love those other choices though!

  6. Charlotte says:

that is so frusterating!!!! that's why I am such a hesitant decorator! I am afraid I will be dissapointed with the final outcome!!! And my mama too always curbed my use of the word hate!!

  7. Nicole-Lynn says:

Aw, sorry it didn't work out as you had hoped!

  8. Caroline says:

Did you take back the fun shower curtain? I still can't make myself go and get it. I'm scared to paint and change. I don't like it.

  9. Beth says:

I was going to say, at least you kept the receipts. Usually by the time I get around to actually finishing a project the receipts are long gone and I have to live with it until I can justify spending money on it again. I hope you figure out what you want to do in there!

  10. Aww sorry girl that sucks big time! I was waiting to see the cute pics! Have you checked out Houzz.com? They have cute pics and I usually surf the Pottery Barn website for ideas.
