Want to know how my day got totally made? Yesterday at about 2 o’clock when Mr. Delivery Man was kind enough to bring me our wedding invitations!! Yes, you heard it right…the invites are here, the invites are here!
Joni {my most favorite invitation person in the world} truly outdid herself and I am over the moon elated for just how perfect the suite turned out… bless her heart, she was extremely patient with me as I sent back a few rounds of revisions, but now I am confident and cannot wait for our guests to open these sweet envelopes of fun! This weekend starts operation complete-the-invitations…I’ve got to stock up on my calligraphy supplies because it’s been awhile since I’ve gotten to work on my my fun hobby! And yes my friends, pictures will be posted as soon as they are sent out to all of our guests =).
Switching to another topic…Lent! The 40 days begins today {Ash Wednesday} as we celebrate the coming season of Easter. I know there are very opinionated people about what we choose to sacrifice for Lent, but to me it’s a personal choice, and as a Methodist, Lent is something I do participate in each year. Personally, I believe it’s a time to give up something so that I can remember why Jesus died for me…among other reasons as well. As Forrest Gump would say, “and that’s all I have to say about that”. So moving on, what will it be this year you ask? Let’s see, in the past, I have forgone coffee, dessert, and then alcohol last year, but this year with all types of wedding events going on, I need to be realistic with myself… so I’m giving up…
Yes chocolate my friends…no more Jello Mousse, no more Pretzel M&M’s, no more hershey kisses to get me through the day, but I am glad that everytime I think I want a little piece of something, I will know that I am sacrificing just the smallest thing in a way to think about God more in my daily life. I also plan to spend more time in prayer, more time reading scripture, and more time being a better Christian. If you participate in Lent, what are you foregoing this year?
Great post. Good luck!
A Methodist girl here too- this year I'm giving up an hour of my precious tv/blogger time and instead spending that time in prayer and studying His Word! Kudos to you, there is no way I could let go of my chocolate! Ha!
Hope you have a wonderful week!
I posted about Lent on my blog today too! In the past I have added something to my life to enhance it (volunteer work, more sleep, complimenting people throughout the day, reading more, etc), but this year I am making the ultimate sacrafice — in my world — and am giving up salt and sweets. Ugh! Wish me luck… I need it, LOL!!
Every Mile A Memory
Yay for your invitations coming in the mail!!! I am not sure what I want to give up, I have to hurry up and decide! I have tried to give up chocolate many times and it's so hard. I think I might give up baking because I do so compulsively!
velvet cupcakes
We should be friends – Pretzel M&Ms are my fave! lol
I need to figure out what to give up for Lent…Hmm..
I cant say I am really giving anything up… so I will go with I plan to increase my work out regime. So excited to see your invitations!! -Sarah
No chocolate?! Kudos to you! That is very brave and I envy your discipline 😉
The hubs and I are giving up sweets, so no chocolate, no candy, no cake, no ice cream, etc. Its always a lot harder for me than him!
I'm going to *attempt* to give up chocolate for Lent as well …
AAAAND French fries.
Am I crazy? Probably so. I'll document progress on my blog from time to time!
That is so exciting about your invitations! I bet they are absolutely gorgeous! Oh man, chocolate would be a hard thing to give up. I don't practice lent, but I like the idea of it… I have been thinking about giving something up!
I cannot wait to see all your "paper goods" for your wedding! I'm sure they're gorgeous. I love the last print on your post today…so sweet. Good luck on No-Chocolate!
I've given up sweets the past few years and it was always pretty easy so this year I've decided to give up facebook. Eeeeeek! That should give me pleeeeenty of extra time to spend with The Man Upstairs haha.
