Items to Report for Friday

Uncategorized

November 18, 2011

It’s Friday, it’s Friday! There is aways something about this day each week where I am up and at it with a smile on my face…maybe it’s because I know I get to indulge in my weekly Starbucks treat, and I know it’s going to be a pleaser 😉

Speaking of my favorite, yet still overpriced concoctions, today through Sunday, Starbucks is having Buy 1 Get 1 Free on your favorite drinks from 2PM to 5PM, just when we all need that little afternoon pick-me-up. Visit your favorite barista and load up on some caffeine! Perfect to keep your hands warm during all that Christmas shopping, right?
Tonight, I am going to get down to business and do more holiday decorating…we’re doing 2 trees again this year {1 real, 1 not-so-much}, so my favorite non-shedding tree is going up this evening–pair that with Michael Buble’s holiday CD {AMAZING!}, peppermint hot cocoa for the hubs and I, and Papa John’s Pizza and I’d call that an exciting night in our household.

Saturday, Team Baby is going to be put into action as Mom, Jeff, and I start the registry process…the husband is coming along to do the scanning, while Mom and I will get the fun job of figuring out exactly what we do and don’t need–and what the heck half of this stuff is. Thankfully, I have INCREDIBLE mom-friends who have sent me hoards of lists of their favorites and go-to items of what Miss Caroline is sure to need. It seems Aden + Anais swaddling blankets, an Ergo Carrier, Halo Sleep Sacks, a Mustela Pump, The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD, a Boppy pillow, and a Summer Video Monitor top their lists as “necessities”. Any other recommendations out there? I am ALL ears on this one!

I am SO excited to get our Christmas cards delivered from my favorite online retailer of everything stationery, Minted. They never cease to disappoint and I hope our friends and family really like our 2011 mailables–which I promise to show after we send them out!
And lastly, I feel as though my world has been crushed…Pinterest has been blocked at work–oh heavens, looks like I am going to have to get crafty with my posts and inspiration now, huh? Didn’t they get my message of how social media is important? How can Twitter be accessible, but not Pinterest? Oh vey, as it looks like I’ll be spending my nights blogging now. Well, it is what it is”.
Have a good weekend friends!!

Your night sounds similar to ours! Decorating the house, ordering in pizza but we'll be watching Love Actually instead of listening to Michael Buble. Although I'm OBSESSED with his Christmas CD. Have fun!

The baby items you've listed top my recommendations, too! Do you have a Buy Buy Baby near you? I'd highly suggest going there over Babies 'R Us if you have a choice!

  5. I always bought a pack of cloth diapers to use as burp rags at home because they're just going to end up stained. I saved the cute ones for outings. I'd also get 2-3 extra fitted sheets for your crib…you will thank me one early morning 🙂 If you haven't gotten one yet, a mirror for the crib…babies loooove staring at themselves. I had one that had toys and stuff hanging down from it..always cool to hear them play with it for the first time when they've woke up from a nap. I could go on and on…:) Have fun setting up your list!

I second what Kelli said…the Fisher Price rock n play sleeper was our saving grace for the first 2 months. It's cheap too which was really nice since we had already purchased another bassinet! We also LOVE our Summer Infant video monitor. We still use it 14 months later and it gives me total peace of mind! Have fun registering!

  7. Aww registeries sound so fun!! I cant wait to get married just for the kitchen stuff! Ridiculous I know!!

What a lovely Starbuck's offer…thank you for sharing all these wonderful reports! I must start on my Christmas cards soon! Have a lovely weekend!

Girl, I'm addicted to caffeine – especially Starbucks. When this advert came through my email it made be extremely happy as well 🙂

  10. Jess says:

I just ordered our Christmas cards from minted too! I can't wait to send them out and see how they turned out!

I can't wait to see your finished Christmas decor. Such a fun time of year isn't it?

Baby registry shopping is SOOOO much fun! Of course I think any kind of baby shopping is fun.

    Have a good weekend 🙂

  12. Hey friend,
Just read you list of things to register for and I have one to add. I forgot to ask you when I saw you if you were planning on breast feeding but if you are you need to look into the breast friend. Same idea as the boppy but way better for breast feeding. It is much sturdier and they can completely lay out on it without sinking into the pillow like the boppy. It is madevout of foam while the boppy is a pillow. When they are little babies are so wobbily that they need all the extra support they can get plus it takes the strain off your back. I have both the boppy and breat friend and am so glad.

  13. That is crazy that Pinterest is blocked, wow so many much be on it just browsing away, huh?

  14. Registering was pretty intimidating to me — seriously, a store almost the size (okay, maybe not quite the size) of Sam's Club devoted solely to "all things baby"?

By the end of your pregnancy, you'll know the aisles of Babies 'R Us better than the employees!

A few additional recs if you haven't already heard of them:

1.) White noise machine (seriously, I swear by this… and J has slept through the night since 3 weeks old, in part I think because of this).

2.) Playtex Drop-in Bottles – everyone told me not to buy bottles until he got here and I could try a few to see what he liked. I didn't listen. I bought and registered for Born Free bottles….that have wayyy to many parts and are pretty pricey! J wasn't pick and the bottles were just fine! BUT, they were a pain to wash!!! I used them for 3 weeks and then ran to Target and stocked up on the Playtex drop-in bottles / inserts. SO MUCH EASIER / FASTER…and way cheaper.

    3.) Sophie the giraffe

4.) A swing, exersaucer and jumper.

5.) A diaper bag that allows you to actually organize the 50 different things you tote around all of the time! I'm doing a post this week on my new bag, btw!! I'm obsessed w/ it!

Okay, I'm sure I have more, but truthfully, you learn as you go!! The advice you get will be super helpful, but every babe is so different! In hindsight, I wouldn't have bought so much upfront and just waited to see what was necessary as I have tons and tons of things that he never used early on, etc.

    HOPE YOU'RE FEELING GREAT!!

Can't wait to see your family photo cards!! 🙂
