When Life Gets You Down…Remember the Good

Uncategorized

January 19, 2012

lengthy post on the horizon so watch out-and don’t say i didn’t forewarn you ahead of time 🙂

in this world wide web of blogging, it is so easy to get overwhelmed, sad, and confused as to why some people say the things they do. i’ve seen countless bloggers get upset over a rude comment some negative nancy just had to post on their site or say about them behind their back…i can’t help but find it fascinating that there are so many individuals out there who intentionally seek to harm others-but why? to make themselves feel better? to hurt others? for a good laugh? that is one thing i don’t understand, and i doubt i ever will.
luckily, {and i should totaly be knocking on wood here} i haven’t had much of those types of experiences in the past 3.5 years since i began blogging.

a lot of what i post on my blog is personal, and summarizes what is going on in my life, and i think it helps deal with some of the emotions i encounter throughout this crazy roller coaster… having an outlet to air these feelings really helps cope with the ups and downs and i think communicating the good as well as the bad is all a part in showing that we are all human, we all make mistakes, we all have bad days, and we all struggle.
last weekend, i posted a tweet and i had some friends/fellow bloggers email me saying that they really appreciated what i wrote because they needed some positivity…i assure you, it’s nothing prolific by any stretch of the imagination, but this is what it said:
“it’s time for people to grow up and move on. sad to see you’re dwelling in the past while we’re living in the present and looking to the future.”

i have had obstacles i’ve had to overcome…people saying untrue things about me and my husband-acting like they know who we are at this stage in our life, and trying to belittle and say rude things about us, our family, our future-but it’s just like our moms taught us throughout our adolescent years-“that which does not kill you only makes you stronger”. it’s almost as though we’ve ventured back to middle school for some unknown reason.
to those individuals, i find it strange that they read my blog in order to find out about our lives…to me, that says a lot more about what they find entertaining and how they occupy their free time and it baffles me. i certainly don’t seek out information on those i don’t care for to find out what is going on in their lives, for that seems to me like taking a step back and honestly, people like that simply aren’t worth anyone’s time.

however, on the contrary, there are countless people out there that are thoughtful and take time to offer a kind word or a thank you…it’s fun for others to be able to take a small peak into a blogger’s life and some have told me they have been positively affected by my optimism, or the advice i offer, or my attitude towards life. to me, that makes this whole thing worth it. to read your comments and emails, it’s like i’ve gained a whole new outlook and i have found that i can maybe help someone who is going through a difficult time, or offer my opinion on how to deal with setbacks we all face. in this world of so much negativity, i’m glad i can offer a glass-half-full kind of perspective. if i am able to put a smile on just one person’s face at the end of the day, then i have succeeded and opening up a brief snapshot of me is most certainly worth the small bit of negativity that others try to project.

just remember to be strong, be kind, and always be you…
thanks for listening to me babble…i hope each and every one of you have a WONDERFUL day!!

Think I most love your blog because you are just so positive! I love that no matter what the situation, you always treat it with a sunny outlook. That, sadly, is a rare quality in the blog world. I love that you aren't letting childish people get you down!

  2. Kayln says:

SUCH a great post Natasha! I'm so glad you stay above whatever drama or negativity you have in your life! Your positivity is very refreshing 🙂

  3. Raquel says:

Thank you so much for this post! One of the reasons why I love your blog so much is because you're such a positive and uplifting person!

  4. What a great post!! I can't stand when others are so negative and take the time to voice their opinion. I don't allow anonymous commenters for this very reason…just don't want to invite the negativity in. But I will say the positive FAR outweighs any negative and I am super grateful for the kind comments and thoughts. I ADORE your blog and am so glad you invite us into your life. It's been such a fun journey to follow along on! 🙂

  5. love this! We {bloggers} need to remember the countless positive and happy comments we receive daily, and try our best to ignore the rare negative ones. Thank you for this post! 🙂

  6. Amen! Thankfully, I have not experienced many negative comments either, but I certainly agree. Its sad that some people feel the need to put others down, but the important thing is to not let it bring you down!

  7. amf says:

I love your blog! I've been a devoted reader for about a year now. I completely agree with you on everything you said. I feel like other bloggers I read let people get to them and it stinks. To me, it seems the other people making comments are just jealous. Thank you for making a positive statement on how to deal with those people!

  8. Caroline says:

Always keep your head held high! You're fabulous!

  9. Amy says:

Thanks for being positive in a world of negative! You really do inspire others and help them see the good in life regardless of their circumstances. Keep on keeping on because you do make a difference!

  10. Such a great post, I love all the inspirational quotes!

  11. Faith says:

    i love this post!

i had a moment yesterday when i was so upset after seeing a person's blog about how much she hates this and that about people's blog, etc. and it just annoyed me because i saw just how many people were agreeing with this post. for anyone to feel that their blog is nothing really upsetted me yesterday. not sure why yesterday as i have seen those type of posts so many times during my time of blogging.

i just don't understand how a person can feel so good about themselves by making another person feel horrible. what gives you the right?

anywho, all of that to say that i loved this post. i love your blog and enjoy when i come across people who are positive and don't intentionally go out of their way to hurt others.

  12. Miss V says:

I LOVE this. I love reading your blog, your optimism, advice, opinions, a peek into your life make me smile every time I "check" in with you. I also try to write from a positive, reflective and thankful point of view. Do I feel like that 100% of the time? Of course not. But at the end of the day when I sit down to write I know that it's more important to think about what makes me happy and what I'm thankful for and focus on all the happy and positive to help me deal with any negative that might also be there. I'm so happy you posted this today because I was having a little internal fear this morning that maybe my blog is too "happy" but I realize now that being happy is not something I should feel bad about, it's something I should focus on and share with others. 😉

  13. Meredith says:

Wow!! I think I needed to hear this!! It drives me nuts when a blogger ask too much or gives me their opinion when they had no business too.

  14. Courtney says:

Very well said- I especially love the quote from your tweet. Thanks so much for sharing! Love your blog!

  15. AllyceR says:

Very true. We all like certain blogs for different reasons and I come to yours to find out about your fabulous life and your sunny outlook. I don't, however, fool myself into thinking you have a perfect life because none of us do, but what you choose to share is your choice and I enjoy it!

  16. Erin says:

Your blog is always optimistic and fun to read each day. You may even the most simple day seem fun and funny and it makes me smile to get a small peak into another newlywed's life. Your joys of baby showers and prepping a nursery are things I look forward to in life, and you truly give me hope and excitement about my future! 🙂

  17. Thank you for being so positive! It's so nice to read a blog about someone's life that radiates happiness. Keep on sending the good vibes out there!!

  18. Shari says:

You said it perfectly my dear. Well put. 🙂

  19. Ashley says:

Thanks for sharing! You are such a great blogger and that's just so silly that their are people out there that take the time to say mean things..

  20. Grayson says:

    Natasha,
You are absolutely amazing! And yu are totally right! Negative people are just not worth your time. I am so glad that you are so positive and that is one of the many reasons why I love to read your blog.
