Day 22: Rant about Something
This is a hard topic…there are a number of things I could step up on a soapbox for (thank you notes, social media do’s and don’ts, using correct grammar, etc), but today I’ll speak about a big pet peeve of mine: rude and unsafe drivers.
Listen, we all had to take driver’s education, work our way through a learning permit, and then take the dreaded test to get our driver’s license when we turned 16, but I think the older we get, we tend to forget the rules of the road. It’s not a race, and I assure you that if you cut people off, you will maybe get 1-2 cars ahead, but does that make it worth the risk to everyone around you?
If you’re in the HOV lane and you’re the only person in the car, you walk the line of getting a ticket. If you bypass lanes and lanes of traffic just to cut someone off right before you reach the exit, I wouldn’t blame them for giving you a “friendly” little wave or tap of the horn. If a kind person lets you in front of them, for heaven’s sake, can you just PLEASE nod or give them a thank you hand?
It baffles me that there are such rude drivers out there, and when I see people doing hazardous things while driving (i.e. texting/emailing, putting on makeup, etc) I seriously want to reach into their car and smack them. This is how people have wrecks and how people get injured, or even rose, lose their life…because of drivers who don’t pay attention.
I think you all get my point. Let’s all focus on driving when we are behind the wheel!
Day 23: Things I’ve Learned that School Doesn’t Teach
1. You are in charge of your own destiny. Live the life YOU want. Follow your dreams so that you don’t have regrets later in life.
3. Admit when you make a mistake. As hard as that may be (and I know I struggle with this sometimes), it’s best to admit you were wrong and apologize so you can move forward.
