ONE. Concealer
It’s been a rough week my dears…a long one indeed. Caroline woke up Tuesday morning with a horrid fever and cold and it’s been a weary few days trying to get her back to her normal, happy self. Basically, we’ve had little sleep, lots of cuddles, and more Mickey Mouse than I care to divulge. For me, I am thankful for under eye concealer to cover up just how tired I am. My go-to varieties are from Cover Girl and NYX, but heck, I think I need some spackle to cover up this exhaustion.
TWO. Football and Tailgating
This weekend, we are headed up to Knoxville for the UT/Auburn showdown. It’s going to be EPIC…we’ve got a huge tailgate assembled with friends coming from far and wide to celebrate. We play them every four years so it’s go big or go home and I am praying that we can pull out a victory against that other orange team ;). Staying with the BFF, drinking some early morning mimosas, and spending quality time with the hubs…bring on the football fun!! So for this round, I am thankful for this tradition I hold near and dear to my heart.
Ummm…it’s been WAY too long since we’ve all been together
THREE. My Family
I have seen the term “humblebrag” a bit lately, and I guess this comes along those lines, but it’s true…God blessed me with an incredibly close-knit family who are ALWAYS there, and are ALWAYS willing to go above and beyond for Jeff, the minis, and I. I am thankful for continuing to support us, guide us, and be there for us unconditionally..that’s what family is for.
FOUR. A Work from Home Part-Time Job
Sometimes, It feels so nice to escape the normal “mom day” in exchange for a few hours of using my brain and putting on my career hat. I am thankful for the extra money this gives my family, and I am thankful that my old boss called on me when she had a new campaign to tackle… right now, I am creating a social media strategy for our real estate client and it’s a lot of fun!
FIVE. Books
I love me some television, but books are much better company… lately, I haven’t been able to spend as much time with my nose reading through pages as much as I like, but I’m hopeful I can get back to reading at least one book a month. I saw a statistic a few weeks ago that the biggest influence on intelligent children with strong test scores is reading to them…not doing flash cards, not doing extra work, but reading every single day and I couldn’t agree more. That is a ritual in our home and I am thankful we are able to read to our girls.
Join in the Five on Friday fun…you know you want to!!! We love hearing what yall have to say and we enjoy “meeting” so many of you through this weekly link-up party…happy weekend darlings đ
I'm a first grade teacher and couldn't agree more about reading to kids everyday. Enjoy a nice kid-free day at the game!
So hard when they're sick. Makes you feel insane. I need to read more but lately TV in 5 second spirts is all I get!
Hopefully the Vols can pull off a good game this weekend since we are at home!
WAR EAGLE! ha I went to Auburn and wish I was tailgating for that game too! Have fun!

Def will have to try that concealer- I'm in need of a new one- Enjoy your weekend!
You're just the cutest…and what a sweet little family you have! I recently started putting my "career hat" back on very very part time as well. It feels great, but I definitely miss my little man when I'm gone. đ -Andrea http://www.handandtheheart.com
I'm such a big fan of your blog and I love your positive outlook on things even when they're not going as planned! Your blog is refreshing! I've been really wanting to try the NYX concealer as I've seen so many great reviews. I think I'll go pick some up this weekend. Enjoy your weekend with football and friends!
My family is just like yours. My grandmother was always there for everything and after I left for college would write me letters, send care packages and visit. She passed this week, but I looked around that hospital room and it was full of my best friends-my family. She taught all of us how important family and faith are and you are so blessed to have the same. It's really all that matters.
So sweet. I work from home as well…and I agree it's nice to have a mix of being both a stay at home mom and having a career. Have a great weekend, friend!
That bookshelf. I just fell in love.
And your wedding photo is to die for! Gorgeous!
I hope Caroline is feeling better. Kids are so pitiful when they're sick.
I've been hearing so much about that NYX concelear.. I'm definitely going to have to check it out! I'm obsessed with bookcases right now but I have never seen one COLOR coordinated, I love that! Sounds like you're going to have a great weekend!
I am a book junkie. I started reading to my little girl prior to her arrival our of my little rental womb and let me tell you it worked wonders. She started her love for books before a year old. She's now a Kindergartner who the school wanted to promote on to first grade. I'll be honest the only thing I can link it to is reading to her for so long and her catching the reading bug! It is such a simple way to shape those little amazing minds. Have a great weekend and get some rest!
Here's a couple more facts for you…children who know 8 nursery rhymes (Mary Had a Little Lamb, Jack and Jill, etc) by age 5 will be among the strongest readers by age 8. Also, children need to have heard a MINIMUM of 1000 books before they are "ready" to start reading on their own. You are absolutely correct – reading daily is the best thing you can do for your children. Start EARLY (as in during pregnancy, or at least by birth). Oh…and WAR EAGLE from this AU graduate. đ Hope you guys have a fabulous weekend!
Oh how sweet is your wedding photo! SUCH a good one!
Also, I'd kill for that home office!
Happy Friday! đ
the fact that I am able to read to Elyse each day is such a blessing for me & her alike! Even if it means reading the same book over and over and over and over again!
C loves to read, she brings me books all the time and crawls on my lap. Other times she sits in her room just paging through them. Love it. Also I LOVE that book shelf. I love color coding/arranging things. Beautiful!
I'm always looking for the next best concealer so I'll have to check out that NYX brand. Thanks dearie for the heads up! Happy weekending to ya'll!
What a great thankful list, friends and family and of course, reading to these little ones. My Grans love to be read to and their parents do a good job of reading to them. Hoping you have had an enjoyable weekend with friends and that your team WON!
You are so precious girl! I love all of your posts and thought you deserved the sunshine award so be sure to check out my blog post from today with more deets! Hope you have a great day! đ
Melissa
