we’re BACK!!! i totally skipped out on the last five on friday due to sicklings taking over my life, but this week brought a new year, a new perspective, and a new outlook on getting things done. let’s kick 2014 off right:
one. after holiday sales
now is THE BEST time to shop…yes, i know a lot of us are working on the whole budget/saving mentality, but stores are offering incredible savings to stock up for next year, finish out this season, and i found some fun spring/summer staples for less than $10 a piece so i will have some pretties to wear once the season changes. my favorites are loft (save an extra 60% off clearance), jcrew factory (take additional 40% off sale), anthropologie (take extra 25% off sale) and gap (30% off your entire purchase).
two. notes of great cheer
want a fun way to savor the sweet stuff this year?? i found this idea via pinterest and couldn’t wait to share! start with an empty jar (mason ones are the best…hello south) and then fill it with notes about good things that happen…they can be little victories, big accomplishments, sentimental stuff, you get the idea. then, on new years eve, empty it and see what good things came your way that year. easy, free, and a fun way to keep things in perspective.
one of my goals this year is to dive into using my new kitchen…getting back to meal planning (because it helps save so much $$$ when grocery shopping) and because i know my little family is a lot happier at night when mama has cooked dinner. and yes, that way i don’t have to think about lunch because we can have leftovers :). i shared these last year, but wanted to post again just in case others of you out there need help to get it done and get back on track!
I just freshened up my desktop background a few days ago too. Such a lovely view now! đ And after Christmas sales were my jam!! They made for a perfect girls' day! xx

Ok, so that LIKE A BOSS image is just the best! I need this in my house. I say that phrase all the time. Even when it isnt appropriate.
Sometimes, I buy six months worth of birthday presents during this time of the year. đ Love the wallpapers

My littles have been sickly too. I am so ready to bust out of this house. As usual loved your 5 on Friday. I now have some new desktop wallpaper and Mason jar about to get some good use. Happy weekending pretty girl!
Thanks for reminding me about the mason jar idea! I saw that last year and forgot to do it, lol!
I adore the New Year's Mason Jar idea, such a fun way to remember things we shared (rather than just me digging back through journals).
One of my teacher friends gave me a really cute mason jar with "BLESSINGS" on it in glitter writing for Christmas. Inside she put a pack of sticky notes and pen so that we can keep track of our blessings throughout the year…just like your "good cheer." I think it will be a really good project.
I definitely also need to get on meal planning this year!
