I’m done with the resolution posts…I always find myself slacking mid-way through the year, get frustrated with my progress, kick it in high gear, and then loaf off again around October and then I quit or realize I have the last two weeks of December to tackle everything, which NEVER ever happens. Let’s just say I didn’t end up doing another 1/2 marathon last year, my life was still unorganized, and stress was at an all-time high. Hmmm…time to re-evaluate my priorities I guess.
This year, I am going to start something new…I am going to give myself some basic “rules”, guidelines if you will, to live by and I am going to post these all around my house, office, car, bathroom, etc to keep myself accountable each and everyday. Here is the breakdown of what I came up with:
Daily To-Do List: make it attainable, and I am promising myself not to put more than 5 things on these daily lists…like I said, something I can actually complete and feel good about. No more slacking, no more wasting my time away on mindless time occupiers. I also want to read “Getting Things Done” which should help in this aspect. I struggle with this SO much!
Reminder-Family First: to me, this needs no explanation. This is the most important rule for me, for I can do without most things, except family. The backbone and support system and they are what matters most. Everything else can wait.
Launch My Business: February is fast approaching, which is my tentative launch date…I’ve been working on this venture for months and I cannot wait to share this with you! I promise to give you details once things get closer!
Make Each Day Count: Just call me Jack Dawson…yes, I watched Titanic recently, and that quote stayed with me. It’s so simple, yet so true. We aren’t guaranteed a tomorrow, so make sure you make all of them count.
Get Nutrition/Workouts Back in Gear: I slacked the last few months…with the move, the holidays, and everything in between, I made excuses and I want to get back to cooking dinner most nights and working out at least 3 times each week. No excuses!
Don’t Compare My Life to Others: such a complicated idea to master, and I am constantly telling myself that I can’t compare because God made us each different for a reason.
Take More Photos: sounds so easy, yet I find myself always forgetting to capture those moments…thank heavens for my iPhone and the ability to whip it out quickly! Pictures make for a happy home and there can NEVER be too many on the walls
Less Time with TV, More Time with Books: My goal is to read 1 a month…totally doable, if I put down the remote and focus on time spent with my nose in the pages
Remember: Quality, Not Quantity: this can speak to a lot of areas in my life…blogging, time with friends, and such. I need to realize it’s not how much I do, but how well I do it.
Not a traditional set of resolutions, but these make me feel good and give me hope that I can balance things a bit more in 2014 and not get so overwhelmed all the time like I did this year. Cheers to you and yours for a successful and blessed new year friends!! OXOX
Sounds like good goals for the new year! Happy New Year!
This is a GREAT list!!!!! Happy new year! 🙂
Good luck with all of these!! I can't wait to hear what your business venture is!!
Love these! I'm starting to make realistic goals too. When they aren't realistic, they're hard to achive and when I don't achieve them I feel lousy so I'm starting to make goals that I can attain.
I love these goals!!! It is hard when we make goals that are over our heads.. Family is very important
Love this, very inspiring!!! 🙂

Such a great list that I think we can all take something from! I know 2014 is going to be great for you!
These guidelines sound great! Definitely do-able and realistic! Happy new year!
These are awesome guidelines and I love them. Cant wait to see about your new business
great list, I made a similar one as opposed to one unattainable resolution, so much more realistic 🙂 happy new year!!
Quality, not quantity. Good one.
I'm totallly stealing this. Guidelines (to me) are way easier to follow than resolutions! Hope 2014 is the best!
I like your "guidelines" – I don't do resolutions because there is no point in on purpose dissatisfaction! Have a great 2014, cannot wait to see this business of yours!!!!!
This is a great idea! I don't like to list resolutions either… I always let myself down! I love your guidelines! Happy New Year! xoxo, lindsay
I like writing a daily to-do list as well!
I love it!! I had a "30 while 30" list and felt like a total failure when I turned 31 and had only done about half of the items. Then I stopped and really liked at the past year and realized I had done so much more! So, no resolutions for me, but your list is amazing. Thanks for sharing!
I love this list! So practical and useful! I can't wait to hear the details of the new biz!!!! Happy 2014!
A great list! I need to remember many of those myself! Excited for you about a new business venture- sounds exciting!
A great list for all of us! I hope you have all your 2014 intentions come true!
Much Love,

These are great! I especially love the more photos and more books/less tv. I hope you post the books on your reading list 🙂
