Favorite Purchases of 2014

Life + Style

January 6, 2015

You know those things you use/wear everyday and you’re so thankful you discovered them? Almost like an ode to “Oprah’s Favorite Things”?? Yeah, these are mine from last year. Some were game changers for this lady and I am sharing my honest thoughts and opinions about these goodies that are now my go-to’s…

Kork Ease Booties in Cruz. Purchased these at Nordstrom during my styling session and I’ve been obsessed them ever since. They are the PERFECT wedge bootie…comfortable for all day wear with the ability to dress them up or down. And the color is the magical shade of cognac so they go with literally everything.
Paige Denim Black Skinny Jeans . I used to be a hater when it came to buying designer denim, but I’ve recently been converted and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. Yes, they cost a bit more, however, they are jeans AKA mom essentials and it’s not a trendy piece I’ll regret in a few years. My favorites are the Skyline Skinnies and I’ve found a few pair that I love. And yes, they fit true to size so order your normal size.
Loreal Lipcolor in Plum Explosion. I wanted a bold lipcolor without spending an arm and a leg to do so. I perused the aisles until I found this colorful hue and I’ve worn it almost everyday since. The price is budget friendly and it stays put (especially when I wear with a nude lipliner). Big fan!
Kenra Platinum Blow Dry Spray. I constantly get asked what products I use on my hair and this was a product one of my friends introduced me to last fall. It is the BEST spray I have found when you’re constantly subjecting your looks to harsh heat (i.e. hair dryer and curling iron) and it leaves my hair smooth, frizz free, and smelling great. A little pricier, but it only takes a few sprays.
Lollacup in Posh Pink. It’s a constant quest to find the “perfect” no drip sippy cup and I finally found it! I first saw this cup on Shark Tank (yes I’m a big fan) and then saw it in a store and scooped it up immediately. It’s AMAZING and I can’t say enough good things about this cup…both girls will drink out of it, you can move the top to cover the straw for car/school travel, and it has a weighted straw so the minis can manage to get out that last drop, too!
Otterbox for iPhone 5C. Picture this. It’s the day before Christmas, you’re out shopping with your mom, you drop your phone, and crash boom bang…it’s donezo. Yes, that happened to me a few weeks ago so I had the unfortunate task of calling Verizon to file a claim, get a new phone overnighted, transfer all my stuff, and then had to buy a new case. JOY, right? I finally upgraded to an Otterbox case and I am glad I did. Now I know I can get through the everyday wear and tear and I won’t have to sweat those accidents and drops.
Piko Shirts. My go-to daily shirt. I’m OBSESSED with these and might have an addiction to be blunt. They stretch, they wash extremely well, and the fit flatters everybody! And the price at this site (see link to the left) cannot be beat. And yes, these also run true to size (I wear a small).

So there you have it…my winning items I found in 2014. Lifesavers in so many ways!

  1. Love this list. I agree about the denim. Although you don't want to spend the money it is such a good investment long term.

  2. Karra says:

au those booties are so pretty and I live in piko shirts!!

  3. E Hayes says:

I lived in my pikos during the 10 months I was nursing, they are so beat up that I only wear them around the house or to bed at this point, but definitely my recommendation to any new mama. And I'm almost the reverse about the jeans. I lived in designer jeans since college, and still have almost all of them (jean hoarder), but lately I've been buying cheap pairs at AE bc I don't have to bother with getting them hemmed and I don't care that they are getting so beat up playing on floor and whatnot. Of course, when going out I bring out the good stuff.

  4. I can't wait to try those Piko shirts. I've heard great things about them!

  5. I always love to know what other people consider their must-haves. And I'm with you 100% on the black skinnies. I'm obsessed with mine!! And those booties are adorable.

  6. Thank you so much for the piko recommendation. I read it on your blog a couple of months ago and have bought several from that site! They are so easy to work with. Also, thank you for the lipstick! I have been looking for the perfect plum color (with no luck, there are SO many out there!) and after buying it last night I have to say this is it! It looks great on my ghostly pale skin.

  7. Thanks to you, I purchased the booties and LOVE them!!

  8. Thanks to the otterbox my phone made it safely to preschool on the hood of my car last year! Hopefully it will be as protective for your phone too!
