Five on Friday… Recent Faves and Happies

Uncategorized

May 8, 2015

Hello there friends!! Told you I wouldn’t stay gone for too long, now didn’t I? Like I said before, I’ll be popping in for Five on Friday linkups here and thee, but in the meantime make sure to link up with my gal April as she is continuing our weekly tradition of goodness all summer!
One. For the Love of All Things Flamingo
The flamingo is the summertime version of the fox if you will… or so I’ve been told. They are everywhere, and colorful options ranging from women to kids to home and everything in between… yes, I have a fascination with them and I might have to deck out our yard with a few here and there… oh wait, stupid HOA rules… womp womp! Here are some of my favorite “mingo”  (As CC calls them) goodies!

Two. Beach Vacation Prep

The other day, the girls had a date with Mimi to visit Gran and Papa and I had some Sugar Bit meetings later in the afternoon so I decided to hit up Opry Mills for some independent shopping for myself for proper beach attire… and boy did I luck out!! With sales plus extra coupons (thank you email marketing), this savvy shopper was able to stock up on some new lovelies for our vacation!! Here are a few of my new COLORFUL pretties…
Three. Oops… I Forgot
Enough about shopping, let’s get back to the important stuff… AKA teacher gifts! I pretty much failed this year when it comes to Teacher Appreciation Week. Is that another one of those Hallmark holidays we all know, love, and secretly curse at the same time? Thank heavens, other moms in the girls’ MDO classes stepped up and asked everyone to donate $$$ so we could get them something they really want… MONEY! I know it’s nothing fancy, but let’s be honest… how many homemade gifts do they really need???
But really, to the ladies at our MDO… we heart you a lot. You are AMAZING!
Four. Outdoor Living
Right now, our back patio area looks like a daycare threw up all over it…between Little Tikes picnic tables and big wheels and scooters and endless bubble containers and sidewalk chalk, I know it’s not the most glamorous site to see, but it’s OK because it’s just the season of life we’re in… and I wouldn’t change it. However, we are starting to talk about what we want to do with our {tiny} backyard space whenever we decide to bite the bullet and make it into a special space. Here are some amazingly restful and gorgeous spaces…

Five. Mother’s Day
Hoping everyone takes a moment to celebrate the ladies in their lives this weekend… I have so many influential women I look up to, and the two that come to the top of my mind are my Mom and Gran. Their love, generosity, selflessness, and hard work ethic have been the backbone of how I wish to raise our girls and I thank the Good Lord that I have such strong role models who demonstrated that family ALWAYS comes first. Cheers to celebrating all the women {aunts, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, friends, etc} that make this holiday a special one!
  1. Flamingos are Spring's Foxes…I can dig it!

  2. Michelle says:

Getting ready to redo our backyard patio. Okay, who lives like this, really??? Love the pictures, but no matter how hard I'll try my patio won't look like those. Either way, like you, it will reflect the season of life we are in. Happy Mother's Day and great tribute to all the women that fill in as moms for some.

  3. Those outdoor living spaces are phenomenal! I stopped dead in my tracks at the one with the black and white awnings (but fun fact: the husband can't stand fabric awnings and it's unlikely we will ever, ever have one). And oh goodness, I had to giggle about being in the season of your lives for Little Tikes takeover … it was like you were speaking directly to me — my once adult-ish den is now redecorated in red, yellow and blue plastic! 🙂 HA!

  4. Vanessa C says:

We are "mingo" obsessed over here too! Arden calls them "flafingos" which makes me love them even more 🙂 And what a great idea to chip in and give teachers money…I need to remember that for next year! Happy Mother's Day weekend friend!

  5. I have those boardwalk shorts, and they are the comfiest ever! Love the dresses that you picked out, have a great weekend!!

  6. I'm obsessed with flamingo patterns this spring! Have you seen Kate Spade's new flamingo collection? It's perfect! XO

  7. im loving flamingos lately too 🙂 i just got a headband for violet with them on it 🙂 too cute. have a happy mothers day! xo jillian – cornflake dreams

  8. Jenny says:

Those are some gorgeous outdoor spaces! 🙂

  9. Paige says:

I would love an outdoor space like any of those, but we too are decked out in plastic picnic tables, soccer nets and ikea deck furniture for now! One day… And as a teacher we most definitely appreciate any gift, but when the room moms put together a gift card from everyone, that's much appreciated!

  10. Happy Mother's Day!!! Great picks, especially the outdoor spaces…soooo looking forward to summer!

  11. Lea says:

Oh, I may have to incorporate one of those outdoor spaces into our new back porch on our new house. They are lovely! Wishing you a wonderful Mother's Day with your little ones.

  12. Happy Mother's Day! The backyard spaces are dreamy and the clothing is right up my alley…classic! xo Amanda

  13. In our sunny climate, we live outside on our patio and we love it!! Also loving everything mingo too x

  14. This weather has been perfect, loving the outdoor space inspiration! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! Xo, Stephanie
