1 || Change is hard: all kinds of emotions running high over here the past week as our family is in current search of a new nanny… I try to keep it real with you as much as possible, but we’re sad and I’m desperately trying to find a new nanny for our girls. So proud and excited for Alex as she embarks on her new adventure into the corporate world, but praying we find someone just as amazing as she has been for us. First world problems, right? I know it might sound petty, but Alex has been in our lives for 3.5 years and these are big shoes to fill! Thankful for friends who have sent us so many amazing recommendations and we are narrowing it down to some fantastic candidates so any helpful advice is always appreciated.
2 || I’ve gained 5 pounds and I’m not too happy about it. I’m usually SO on top of my game when it comes to fitness, nutrition, and staying active and healthy, and I have slipped a bit these past two months. I totally blame the amazing food and drinks in Miami for pushing me over the edge!! No worries though, I’m back in the gym for my regular 3-4 days/week workouts toning it up and watching what I eat again. And ordering one of these fancy
Swell Water Bottles may help me get my groove back. Let’s not have this confession pop up again, OK?
3 || Clutter gives me anxiety. This past Sunday, I spent the better of 4 hours throwing things in boxes and bags in preparation for ARC to visit us. We watched them haul off so many baby items, old clothes, and things we don’t use anymore and I felt a huge sigh of relief as it feels SO good to give it all away… especially to others who need it desperately more than we do. Trying to really teach our girls how important it is to give generously and it was amazing to see them step up and offer to give away toys they no longer needed. So proud of their kind hearts and willingness to put others first.
4 || I haven’t been as diligent about my faith recently… I used to be the person who got up every morning, read scripture, prayed throughout the day, etc but now I’m realizing it’s taken a backseat to other “priorities” and thus I am suffering in some pretty important areas in my life. I am going to try to set my alarm for 6AM each day so that I can have some quiet time with God and really focus my day towards the things that truly matter. We are reading
this book in our small group right now and it’s really putting a lot into perspective about fellowship, priorities, your perception, and where you are in your walk with God.
5 || I am not jumping on the flare jeans bandwagon just yet. I think I will stick to my beloved skinny jeans for the forseeable future as they seem to flatter my body [or so I hope] and my love of Paige Denim is at an all-time high.
6 || I am SO jealous of everyone going to the Taylor Swift concert this weekend here in Nashville… she is killing it lately with all of her music and the newest single Wildest Dreams is a new fav on my playlist… plus, the video has Scott Eastwood in it = hubba hubba!
7 || Fall nail polish colors are my absolute favorite… I’ve become an addict of gel manicures over the past 6+ months and it’s a little indulgence I treat myself to every few weeks because I know from experience my nails otherwise look like a train wreck. Here is a roundup of some of my go-to hues [most of which come in gel, too] for autumn:
What’s on your list of confessions this week? Big or small, they matter đ
Thanks for your honesty
I'm getting so excited for my next nail appointment later in the week and first Fall mani of the season!
Ugh, I have totally hit a plateau with my weight, and I hate it! I have not been working out and sneaking in some pizza and chips. Bad girl! It's so hard to find time, AND I HATE showering and doing my hair every day! I can usually find time to work out, but then I don't have the extra 30-60 minutes to get ready again. #firstworldproblems Good luck in your nanny search! It's SO HARD to find someone you trust and who clicks with your family!
Oh girl, I'm the same with weight right now. I worked SOOO hard this winter and spring and got almost to my goal weight and tone, but then summer appeared and I had to eat all the things. Back at it for the fall, haha.
I am loving all the fall nail shades this season. Fall colors are my favorite [besides pink, of course] and this season the jeweled tones are hitting all the right notes. Good luck with your nanny search.
i love the fall nail colors!! xo jillian – cornflake dreams
I just had a pedicure yesterday and used the OPI Lincoln Park After Dark and I love it on!! I love all fall and all the rich warm colors that come with it!!
Good lord you are shallow and spoiled and lame
So sorry that you feel that way… I won't apologize for who I am or what I say as I try to be upfront and honest in all aspects of my life but I am always looking for ways to improve myself so constructive criticism is always appreciated, not the stuff to belittle though. I know I have a fairly relaxed life compared to what others may have to overcome, but frankly I'm just trying to do the best I can with what I have.
hehe I was thinking the same thing but less harsh. first world problems. and good for you for being
SOOOOO on top of the fitness. guess it's easier to do that if you have a nanny all day erryday.
realize your confessions are about: 1. losing your nanny even though you're a stay at home mom, 2. usually being soooo skinny but gaining non pounds and being upset about that. and 3. decluttering? like not a confession. byyyyeeeeeee
I find it humorous when people that make rude comments on people's blogs post from "unknown" or "noreply@blogger"… it's easy to hide behind a computer screen when you are picking a stranger apart and thinking that you know them in real life when my blog is just a snapshot into a non-perfect life
1. Yes, we do have a full time nanny and no, I am not a SAHM… I run a single member LLC by myself… therefore I am the shipping department, the accountant, the website operator, the retail buyer, the social media expert, the customer service department, and countless other roles you may not understand… it may sound like a simple "hobby" to some, but for me it's not and it's a business I work tirelessly on growing
2. Weight is something that fluctuates and whatnot, but my "normal" BMI is in a set range, just like everyone else… teaching my family to take care of themselves and live a healthy, active lifestyle is important and I was trying to show that I have real-life issues
3. Decluttering? I am talking about giving to others and showing my girls an important act of generosity… never realized that could offend someone
If I bother you, by all means please go read somewhere else and have a LOVELY day đ
Seriously!? Why do people bother coming on people's blogs just to belittle them? Amazing the time people seem to have on their hands!
I just recently had a gel manicure and oh my goodness was it life changing!!! I am totally with you on being jealous of all the people going to Taylor Swift! She puts on the best shows.
I always appreciate a good honest post! Thanks for sharing….I can relate to a few those and unfortunately number 2 is one of them đ
at least we are realizing it now!!!!
Love this post! I'm with you: I love fall nail colors and I've been spending a ton of time lately purging things in order to have a clean, organized house for the holidays!
Love your honesty friend – finding a nanny is one of the most important tasks and so daunting for a momma – praying for you and the lovely new lady who joins your family. Ugh, don't get me started on the weight issue đ
I'm with you on the flare jeans, I just can't…
x
thanks for the kind words sweet friend… truly means a lot!!!
I'm skeptical about the flare leg pants too… Then of course I donated a bunch of my old ones about a year ago and of course everything comes full circle! 5lb here and there it happens! It's happening to me this Friday – taking off to Cabo!
Cabo?!?!?!? That sounds HORRIBLE đ
As someone who was a nanny…I can understand how daunting it is to find someone to fill Alex's shoes!! Lincoln Park After Dark is my fall go-to! Love it!
that means A LOT knowing you understand where i am coming from!!! thank you lady đ
First I can't believe someone finds offense to anything you've said! Maybe if you called Alex a "full-time sitter" people wouldn't be so up in arms over it but, good gosh at that point it's just a choice in words! Geeze!! So sorry that you have to deal with such people!! I can't imagine someone that's been so vital in your life leaving & not being in the day-to-day – it's certainly an adjustment for everyone involved!!
I too am going to stay on the skinny jean bandwagon… I'm short-er & have a bigger booty & hips, not so sure flares will compliment me unless I wear wedges which I don't do very often anymore. I feel like de-cluttering is always on my list of things to do but, I am about to purge a bunch of stuff & can't wait!! đ EEK & I always love seeing new Fall nail colors! One of mine is Essie, a dark gray color but, I can't remember the name of it!! Darn!
hahahaha… this is TRUE! thanks for the candid words my dear đ
if you think of the color let me know!!!
Mink Muffs is my go to each year.
I hope you find a new nanny soon! I am ready for fall nail polish colors too! I can't pick a favorite!
That you as an entitled, very clueless vapid person would use the term "first world problems" to describe your nanny and nail Polish is beyond the realm of insensitivity and cruelty for me. Please go visit a third world country with actual "third world problems"
You are back I see… I said "first world problems" in the context that I know my issues are trivial in the scheme of life and I would actually LOVE to visit a third world country as I know that we have it so much better than the majority.
Our family sponsors two children in South Africa each year so that we can show our generosity and help others at the same time so don't pretend to know who I am or what I do to aid others in need.
Please stop your internet trolling to downgrade others "Kevin Adams" as you need to move along and bother someone else… thank you
