It’s Gonna Be May! Home Reno Updates… Just One Month to Go!

Uncategorized

May 2, 2018

I can’t believe it’s been more than a month since I’ve properly updated the blog on everything #thestonekingreno. Missed the last update?? You can read that one HERE.
Crazy to think the end is SO very close and our move-in date is fast approaching!

For everyone asking, YES we are still on schedule—a crazy statement to be able to say in the world of home building right?!?! Ron’s team is working in overdrive to make sure we get all the details knocked out before June rolls around. Just this week, Kendall and Ron have started their blue tape process—basically a way to highlight things that need to be fixed/repaired/etc. Then we will do our own walk through later this month… and Jeff is already excited because you know my guy is into ALL the details so I’m sure he’ll be there, magnifying glass in hand—ready to make sure everything is spit spot.

OK, so back to the update process. This past month has been my absolute favorite feature of the home renovation, hands down!! So many visual [AKA cosmetic changes and the pretty things] have taken place, like cabinet installation, lighting going in, backsplash and countertops, you know… THE GOOD STUFF!

The best part?!?!?! The days the appliances went in… I’ve waited for months to see my glass Subzero/Wolf Refrigerator in our home and it was far better than Christmas morning. And Jeff might have drooled over his red knob range—a splurge, but one that makes sense for as much as we love to cook and entertain!! And no, I still have people asking if we will be selling our home once we’re all done and that answer is a big HELL NO ;).

some people go gaga over a huge closet… but this girl wants her pretty fridge–hahaha

I’m doing the happy dance over this one!! The Sonic Ice Maker

custom cabinetry in the kitchen… loving the crystal knobs on the upper cabinets and brass pulls for the bottom

the appliance “garage”… a one stop shop for housing misc items like the coffee maker, toaster, microwave, etc–
all hidden behind a large sliding cabinet door

it’s starting to look like a REAL working kitchen… yippee!!

A big farmhouse sink… divided though because I’m a dirty dishes nazi

Other fun details worth noting… we added refrigerator drawers—just for the girls, so they will have their very own drawers for their juiceboxes, Gatorades, yogurt smoothies, etc… inserted into the bottom cabinets in the butler’s pantry for easy access. And finally, Jeff gave in and agreed it was time to have two dishwashers. One in the kitchen island to serve as the main dishwasher and a secondary one in the butler’s pantry, specifically for glassware and serving dishes, especially for when we have friends and family over.

Other rooms that have been completely transformed as of late?? The Master Bathroom… vintage chic and completely gorgeous… it’s all decked out in classic black and white with brass accents, marble, high gloss black cabinetry and lighting that makes it pop! And yes, I am fully aware that’s a TON of fixtures in our shower—I won’t even need to leave for a full-fledged day at the spa and I am not going to complain one bit!

Our laundry room now has beautifully built-in light blue cabinets… white subway tile backsplash, an easy-to-access sink and tons of storage and helpful organization to help make laundry days more manageable.

Another aspect everyone has been asking about is our cabinets throughout the house… we used Mark Casserly to build every cabinet in the renovation. I cannot say enough great things about his workmanship and the attention to detail. From the cabinet interiors to the soft close doors and drawers to a lifetime warranty for touch-ups and normal wear and tear, I’m blown away by the finished product and how they look. Gorgeous custom paint colors for each room and they really make an incredible statement – i.e. THE MUDROOM CABINETS. Brass inlay, navy paint, large brass pulls—SWOON!!!!

Finally, I’ll leave you with a few more images of some of my favorite changes and additions… from my new office upstairs to Caroline’s bathroom to the mudroom desks and cabinets, the end is inching near and I am ready for all that’s in store once we are HOME SWEET HOME.

Of course I have to leave SOME surprises until the final reveal which will be coming later this summer–so stay tuned after Kendall and her team takes over the first week of June for our complete installation and then the professional photoshoots will be at the end of the month!

the outdoor patio and kitchen stone has been delivered… the team will be starting on that next week

the prettiest living room light in all the land

playroom light perfection

we may have waited two years for this foyer chandelier… and it was SO worth it

  1. Erin says:

Gorgeous!! I love your kitchen backsplash. Is that Calcutta gold marble?

  2. Caley says:

OMG!!!! This is SO exciting – I cannot wait to see it all complete!
