Life Lately and All Sorts of Updates | August 2018

Uncategorized

August 3, 2018

A proper brain dump–it’s been a bit my friends!! Summer has flown by in the blink of an eye and I am getting sentimental thinking that BOTH of my little ladies are going to elementary school next week. How is it possible that I have a first grader and a BABY going to kindergarten???

I seriously can’t even handle it–I’m excited because they will be at the same school, which means bus riders and practically a full day to get my work knocked out on the daily, but sad at the thought that the house will be MUCH quieter without my wild women running around it.

With that being said, we have been savoring SO much quality time this summer… most weekends have been spent at the lake and it truly is the best thing we’ve ever done for our family. The girls are true water babies and it’s the happiest way for all of us to unwind for some real R&R!

Hidden Cove Swimsuits and Terry Coverup Sets [on sale for end of summer!!]

We’ve been doing all kinds of back-to-school shopping and last weekend we took advantage of everything tax-free. Let’s just say the girls wanted everything sequined and shiny and I most certainly gave in more than I ever imagined I would… oh goodness, if it is like this now, what will middle school be like?? Say prayers for me people. On the contrary, I absolutely that they each have a unique style and it’s sweet to see them growing into their own tastes and preferences when it comes to the world of girls’ fashion.

Metallic Star Slip-On Shoes [on sale for $20]

In terms of everything related to our house, it feels absolutely INCREDIBLE being back home and enjoying everything we patiently waited for so long! I promise I am not keeping the full tour from you… I’m waiting for images from the photoshoot to come back and then more will be coming with specific blog posts for each room so you can see all the bits and details that made it SO good. We still have a few rooms to complete, including the upstairs guest bedroom and laundry room and we met with Kendall to make selections for those spaces yesterday. Another round of home design + decor fun coming SOON.

We are also gearing up for a ton of things personally + professionally. As many of you may have read via social media, I have decided to retire Sugar Bit at the end of the summer– it marks the end of my reign as CEO of my beloved children’s shop… a happy AND sad decision all wrapped into one, but one that I feel very content with.

Want to know more?? You can read my blog post with all the specific details here.

I know many of you have sent me emails over the years asking for advice when entering the retail world and I hope I can shed some light on what it is to be an entrepreneur, too. I’ll have to post that on a separate occasion because I feel like I have a wealth of knowledge on the subject now [and feel free to comment with specific questions you need help with].

Goodness gracious I get sentimental just typing it and reading it all over again… my choice wasn’t easy by any means, but in my heart of hearts, I feel 110% sure of the decision to close. It also means more time for the blog as well as taking on new roles with the girls’ school which has me SUPER excited! So having said that, if you’re looking to find some AMAZING deals, shop with us online one more time–everything is marked 40-70% off and we will officially close on August 31st.

That’s all I got for now friends… I am actually officially checked out for a weekend of fun with the besties at the lake and some much needed girl time with my amazing girlfriends. Just what the doctor ordered… and yes, I’m sure we’ll be doing the official play-by-play via Instagram so you can see all the fun [and craziness] by following me there.

Happy Friday friends! OXOX

SO proud of you for this big decision, sweet friend!! It was so tough closing my business last year but it’s been the best thing having the intentional time for me, my blog, our three girls and their school activities 🙂
