Raising Them Right… Starting with Science for School with Orkin!

Everything We Do Starts with Science

I’ve told you before how much I’m excited to share new partnerships and tell you when I find a cause worth collaborating with, especially now that I am playing a significant role in Caroline and Carson’s elementary school PTO and fundraising initiatives!

With that being said, I am proud to chat with you more about Start with Science and DonorsChoose.org.

Start with Science, an enterprise founded by Orkin, partners with DonorsChoose.org to help fund classrooms with science and math projects in public schools across the nation, all to help prepare our children for a future in science and technology.

As someone that has gone from the corporate world to running their own business, I see the importance of this new science-and-math focused endeavor, which will only benefit kids like mine to take on their future and ensure they are set for success.

Our local middle and high school are in the process of building their very own STEM—Science/Technology/Engineering/Math—building, which will ultimately benefit Caroline and Carson as they grow, which is now a significant priority in schools because too few college students are pursuing degrees in these fields.

You’ve seen my previous posts featuring Orkin: 1) Spring Cleaning 2) Summer Entertaining and 3) Home Organization. They are passionate about the science of bugs and that’s why their entomologists and pest control experts are working together to make science FUN—with interactive resources to help our kids become as passionate about science as they are.

Ready to see what they’ve already been able to accomplish?? Check out this video to see more about these incredible statistics of the impact they are making.

America’s Future with DonorsChoose.org

Philanthropy – Jeff and I are always talking to our girls about how important it is not only to give to others, but to also get involved in philanthropy because nothing is as fulfilling as when you work on something and actually see just how much your contribution is making…. That’s where DonorsChoose.org comes in.

Orkin has partnered with DonorsChoose.org to help reach these goals AND now you can lend a helping hand by donating to a project in your community today!

The girls and I hopped onto the DonorsChoose.org website earlier this week and were thrilled to see that elementary schools in our system are included in the classrooms seeking support and instantly contributed to one of their favorites for Robots in the Classroom.

We read the background story about this class, how more than 33% of the students come from low-income households and knew that this was calling our name. Most of Mrs. Burgess’s students come to her as non-English speaking kids but are eager to learn and LOVE coming to school. They are requesting donations for Bee Bots, rechargeable robots that create excitement and intrigue, which get students to interact, communicate, explore, engage with each other and learn STEM fundamentals together.

Caroline and Carson couldn’t wait to donate to others in need and they soon realized just how lucky they are, as their school is a top-performing public school and one that has so much support from our parents, friends and local community business partners.

So, how can you help?!?! If this tugs at your heart and you want to set America’s future up for success, visit DonorsChoose.org and select a cause near and dear to your heart. You can also watch their latest GMA segment for more information here!
