My Morning Skincare Routine | The Summer 2019 Edition

Uncategorized

August 5, 2019

Give me ALL the beauty and skincare secrets… a sentiment I have been hearing loud and clear from you for a long time!! I promise I haven’t been putting this off for no good reason, rather I really wanted to sit down and draft a truly helpful and informative post about what I’ve tried, what I currently use and everything you need to know to protect your body’s largest organ, YOUR SKIN.  Which is why I’m sharing my morning skincare routine with you today.

Having said that, it is amazing what you learn as you get older… you stop caring so much about certain things and hone in on long-term goals, also known as saving the skin and trying to look as young as possible despite the aging process. I don’t shy at the fact that I am now 36 and I’ve spent the last few years repairing some of the damage I did during my 20s [oh I could go on and on about that but alas I’ll get off my soapbox]. So here are product favs, treatments I love, and everything you need to know to get that summer glow ALL year long!

So rise and shine and be sure to take care of yourself first thing in the morning… you’ll see I use [and test out] a ton of products, but these are my tried and true morning must-haves that I’m loving as of late.  P.S. I’ve created a little graphic to show you exactly the order I apply my products as well–this can get overwhelming  so I hope this visually demonstrates what I do and what I use:

My Morning Skincare Routine

ONE. TULA  Purifying Cleanser | I’ve been using this cleanser for a few months now and it has quickly become my go-to for daily facial wash. It’s great for my sensitive skin, but still WORKS and does the job… I can tell my skin has far less clogged pores and my makeup is long gone after I use this probiotic goody on my face. And it doesn’t dry my skin out like other products so this is a major win. A quarter size amount is all I use each morning and night so the pricetag of $28 doesn’t scare me. I also have a 20% code off all TULA products too so be sure to use NATASHA20 at checkout to save 20% off your order.

TWO. Caudalie Brightening Glycolic Essence | the holy grail of toners… I sought out Sephora expertise in store for a new toner about 6 months ago; and I’ve been hooked on this one ever since. It helps brighten and balance my skin and takes off the extra dirt and debris. The glycolic acid also removes the dead skin cells. To use, I dab a handful of drops into a cotton round. Then use all across my face, neck and chest.

THREE. Neocutis Lumiere Eye Cream | Don’t let the price tag scare you because I know it’s a pricey ONE, but I assure you this one is well worth the investment. The skin around our eyes is always the most delicate and subject to even more fine lines and wrinkles… I use a pea-sized amount at my crow’s feet and under my eyes. And that has made a visible difference for this mama. I’ve also been using this for more than 6 months now; and am still on my first bottle.  So it doesn’t take a lot of product to work its magic.

FOUR. Tula Hydrating Day and Night Cream | Hands down, you can never moisturize your skin enough, and I have tried them ALL… from drugstore to dermatologist and back to Sephora, this is a great everyday moisturizer. It’s a great consistency and leaves my skin feeling hydrated, but not oily. To apply, take a quarter size amount and rub onto screen. Having said that, I still routinely use this Polypeptide Protein Moisturizer, so yes I rotate between two varieties. Not saying it’s the “right” thing to do, but it works for my skin and I love both equally.

FOUR. Skin Pharm Mineral Tinted SPF | My friend  + nurse practitioner Maegan rolled out her own line of skincare two years ago and I’ve been SO many of her products. Her latest debut is this daily water-resistant sunscreen.  Which helps protect my skin UNDER my makeup. It’s great for moisture and I love that it’s tinted to give my face a little extra hint of color.

FIVE. iT Cosmetics CC Cream | On days where I am not wearing “full on” makeup [AKA running errands, hitting up the gym, etc], I am a CC cream girl… my mama never left the house without a bit of makeup on and neither do I! Call me crazy, but a little bit of CC cream application goes a LONG way.  This genie in a bottle has been my go-to CC cream for a few years now; and though I’ve sampled other options, I always come back to this one. Currently, I use shade Neutral Medium, and love that it corrects any uneven skin issues, while reducing any fine lines.  It’s basically the best way to get a flawless face in less than five minutes. P.S. I apply with this Skin Perfecting Brush, which makes it even across my face!! Definitely worth the investment to grab this to go with the CC cream.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation | Speaking of holy grail products, this is THE only foundation I will wear… I was a long time lover of the MakeUpForEver HD foundation. But once this liquid touched my face more than three years ago, I was instantly converted and haven’t gone back. The staying power of this one is incredible! Even in 90+ degree photoshoots, travel, and whatever else that comes my way, I know it’s not going anywhere. I wear shade 3N1 [Ivory Beige] and apply with my Beautyblender Makeup Wedge.
