the love fern… plants you can’t destroy

Life + Style

March 3, 2021

I wish I had a green thumb like my mom and Jeff, but alas, I wasn’t born with that gene and I’ll forever be the person replacing my plants every few months… however, I will give myself props as I have kept my current Trader Joe’s purple orchid alive for more than 6 months [yes, I know I just jinxed myself, but it was worth documenting]. I’m just trying my best to make sure my kids brush their teeth at night, take their vitamins in the morning, get Tucker outside with any accidents = you know, the more important details of my daily activity.

So, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite faux plants we have at home. One that actually looks and feels real and two that are the most creative art sculptures ever. And if you’re looking for your very own love ferns to add into your abode, I found a sampling of stellar options worth checking out, too:

The Best Faux Plants

Pottery Barn | The Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree

First up, the most impressive FAUX fiddle leaf tree ever… when we first designed our dining room 5 years ago, we went the real route. And suffice to say, that didn’t go very well, so for round two we went fake and I am SO thankful we did. It looks and feels SO real, yet without the hassel and cleanup so it’s well worth the price.

This version comes in two sizes, though we went for the larger size to fill out the space in the corner of the dining room. We also added decorative moss and river rocks as well as filler and then placed it in a large square hi-gloss white planter, which finished this little vignaette next to our buffet.

You’ve seen Stray Dog Designs MANY times on my blog over the years. I love that they are a family-owned business from my home state and they bring ALL the handmade magic for decor that stands out in your home. Custom colorways on anything and everything or an assortment of their rainbow shades, they totally transform a table or finish a vignette and people are forever asking me about these beautiful pieces. And yes, they don’t require water so they make for the best plants in my opinion!
