The slopes are calling!!! I have been gearing up for our family’s first ski trip together and I can certainly say I under estimated the undertaking it would be stocking up on all things snow gear and mountain must haves. I have done the work so you don’t have to and am rounding up all my favorite finds for the whole family from ski pants/jackets, socks and shoes, accessories and more as we head out west to one of our favorite locales: Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
It’ll be the girls first time to tackle the slopes and Jeff and I are so excited to get them out there with us. They will be taking private lessons at the Steamboat Ski School [which I’ve gone there for lessons and they are wonderful]… so I am hopeful that the 2-on-1 instruction will help them get acclimated!
warm socks | a must have that goes without saying. there’s nothing worse than frozen numb feet.. these are my go-to brand that keep me warm and helps my legs not get irritated by the ski boots
ski jackets/pants | an obvious essential that is hard to find the perfect match for… my favorite pants I have in three colorways – they fit well, plenty of pockets for storage and easy to get on and off
leggings | faux leather leggings are always an essential and perfect for a cold weather trip for layering and wearing with your favorite boots
lots of layers | layers are key when it comes to the cold so make sure to stock up on on the essentials like thin long sleeve tops + fleece lined leggings… again I trust SmartWool as my go-to for these and grabbed a few sets for my girls too
ski goggles + helmet | I’ve always been a Smith girl when it comes to goggles and helmets… incredible quality, great value and safety first! Since we don’t ski all that often, I didn’t want to invest too much $$$$ into our essentials
hand warmers | Another must-have for the mountain!!! these handy dandy electric portable chargers keep you warm and toasty!! I ordered a few for us to use and I assure you they are good… they also come with three levels of heat so you can adjust as necessary
ski boots | I finally broke down and bought the Moon Boots I had been lusting over for a few years. They are under $200 and I’ve read such great reviews about how lightweight they are, but how versatile they are for outdoor wear throughout the winter. And yes, they come in a ton of colors and available in kids sizes as well!
hats and scarves | you know I love accessories so it’s an added bonus that these are also essential for the freezing temps. I love a pompom beanie so a few of my recent favs are getting packed up for this adventure
sleepwear | Because being both cute and cozy is just as important for bedtime when you’re out in the elements… I love warm pj sets for unwinding and cozing up by the fire after a day on the slopes!!
sherpa puffer coat | You already know this gem is coming with me!! Hands down the best for throwing on over any outfit in the cold temps it will give plenty of warmth, yet still fashionable for dinner and all the off-slope activities
graphic sweatshirts | HOW CUTE is this versatile, yet bold apres ski sweatshirt from my friend Meredith’s online shop?? I scooped this up last week when I saw it online and I’m bringing red leggings to go with… the essential everyday winter lounge outfit!!
gloves | I may be in the minority here, but I’m a mitten lover more than the traditional glove. They work better for me when holding my ski poles and I prefer how I can use my handwarmer with them!! And yes, if you get extra chilly, go ahead and grab some liners to have on hand… I don’t need them normally, but I did buy some for my babies
