my nighttime skincare routine

fashion + beauty

January 20, 2023

Ask and you shall receive! My nighttime skincare routine has been highly requested as of late since we all seem to be homebound to avoid winter and and so I’m here to break it all down, especially since I am trying to step up my game since I’m turning the big 4-0 this year. I’m sure I’m not the first to tell you of the importance of skincare, but it’s truly something you can’t hear enough and yes, I wish I had listened to my Mom all those years ago!!

Establishing a routine packed with products made to target your skins specifics needs is something you’ll never regret doing and I am here to tell you what has worked for me through tried and tested products and the knowledge of my skin care professionals [I’m looking at you Skin Pharm]! From products, tools, and everything in between.. here is my fully-updated nighttime routine!

My Nighttime Skincare Routine

one | cleanse. Dime Beauty Creamy Foam Cleanser

If there are two things I’ve learned throughout the years from skincare professionals, it’s to invest in serums/oils/retinols/etc, and take a short cut when it comes to cleansing, opting for something far less pricey. I’ve been a Dime Beauty lover for well over a year now, and I love their products so much, I’ve even started buying it for my girls as well. This lightweight foam cleanser is gentle for sensitive skin, and yet it also eliminates all the excess oil + acne-causing bacteria. It has Glycolic Acid AND Salicylic Acid, two ingredients that work hand in hand to dissolve dead skin and keep pores clean. And you can always save 20% on all Dime Beauty products when you shop with my code TASH20.

P.S. Now we all know I am a daily eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara user, so I’ve got to bring out the big guns to get those off each night: The Cerave Comforting Eye Makeup Remover is my favorite tool. At under $10, it gets the job done, but doesn’t irritate my eyes!

two | tone. Dime Beauty Super Skin Toner

Another Dime Beauty must-have, is the face toner. It tightens and brightens, and it’s something I use both in the morning and night, so it’s a total two-in-one. I love that it helps to balance my skin and assists in moisturizing as well, all while creating a healthy pH balance! I use these Reusable Makeup Remover Pads so that I can throw them in the laundry with towels and linens, plus they are easy on the wallet. Also, don’t forget to use on your neck and chest = they need love too.

three | clarify. SkinPharm Crystal Clear Clarifying Pads

Hands down, if there is one medical-grade skincare product I’d recommend, it’s these clarifying pads from my go-to skin care gurus. The 2% salicylic acid exfoliates and exorbs all the excess oil for those of us with oilier skin [especially me at night]. It also helps to boost collagen production while smoothing skin to even it out and reduce redness. The instant hydrating and glowing effect of these pads is unlike any other!

four | the serum. SkinPharm Youth Serum

The miracle worker… the bottle gives you that youthful glow over and over again and it’s hands down the best serum I’ve ever used. Turning 40 definitely puts things in perspective and I am focusing on protecting my skin and making it look great! It helps to tackle dull, dry skin to eliminating fine lines + wrinkles and helps to even out your skin’s texture while battling redness. Basically, it’s your new best friend!

five | a must = retinol. Drunk Elephant Passioni Retinol Cream

Before I get into the nitty gritty, I’ll preface this by saying I only use retinol 2-3 times a week because it’s potent! It definitely nourishes but fights those pesky deep wrinkles and gives your face a balanced complexion, however it definitely leaves my skin a little more sensitive. It’s clean with 1% retinol and also helps to eliminate the sun damage I’ve done over the years!!

six | the moisturizer. Dime Beauty Restorative Night Cream

Again… easy, clean, and basic. I love a good hydrating moisturizer that doubles as a night cream and this one helps to repair skin overnight while I sleep. Keeps that baby face skin so soft while aiding in balancing your complexion!

additional skincare favs + tricks of the trade

eyecream. SkinPharm Eyesculpt

Oh if only I could count how many eyecreams I have tried… just trust me, the list is long on this one my friends. I should’ve just started using this one when it first came out. Maegan and the SkinPharm ladies nailed it again with this potent formula that dramatically reduces my dark under eyes and overall puffiness, while minimizing crows feet/fines lines.

spot treatments. The Mighty Patch and Kate Somerville Eradikate

It doesn’t happen that often [thank goodness], but when I get super stressed out, I break out and get blemishes. I usually start with The Mighty Patch that acts an overnight miracle worker… just put one on the spot and let it do the work! If it’s a larger spot, I like to get out the big guns = 10% sulfur which is the highest level available to purchase to zap the zit ASAP!

facial cleansing tool. the PMD cleansing brush

I use this PMD cleansing brush and just apply a few drops of the foam cleanser, turn it on, and let it work its magic. I feel like nothing gets my face as clean as this powered brush and it’s fairly lightweight so you can travel with it as well.

under eye treatment. wander baggage claim eye masks

I love a good mask and even better when I can find one that’s JUST for the eyes… these golden eye masks have been a beauty staple of mine for years and I always travel with them! They work best for curing tired eyes, puffiness, and dark circles and the $25 price point is great for 6-pairs.

facial treatment. whipped exfoliating mask

I’m sure you’ve heard the importance of incorporating an exfoliator into your routine but so many can be harsh on your skin and not enjoyable to use! that’s why I love this whipped mask from dime. it does the job of clearing away dead skin cells and debris in the form of a creamy mask

faux glow. facial tanning mist

You all know I live for a faux glow and this self tanning mist is super easy to use to get that everyday glow we all want! I use 2/3 sprays on my face every 2-3 days at night after I complete my nighttime routine and overnight a subtle hint of color develops.

lip mask. laneige lip sleeping mask

Amazon for the win yet again when it comes to beauty buys!!! I’ve used this overnight lip sleep mask for years now and it lasts forever = definitely worth the $20 investment. It helps combat dry, chapped lips and I love the subtle sheen it leaves. A great way to keep those pouts perfectly protected, especially during the winter.

regeneration tool. the BeautyBio GloPro

Another item well worth investing in is this micro-exfoliation tool from BeautyBio. this tool allows for at home micro-needling that is totally safe, effective and easy to use. using this regularly creates improved absorption, firming, and smoothing of the skin. you will totally see a difference after just one week and will continue to love it long after!

combatting the puffy. the ice roller

A total life saver that is oh so simple but makes all the difference. This little ice roller is my favorite tool for fighting all the puffiness after a sleepless night or having one too many cocktails the night before! it also helps minimize pores and prevent wrinkles and works wonders for body aches and migraines too. simply keep it in your fridge and roll it on daily or as needed!
