my top 10 favorite artists

home and food

March 6, 2023

Never have I ever been a collector of things… well, except for amazing handbags and coffee table books, but now it seems I am turning into quite the art afficionado. In my opinion, nothing makes a home more sentimental than special art covering the walls and occupying each space and my love affair of following artists and adding new pretties here and there has turned into quite a fun pasttime as of late.

It all started when we finished our formal dining room [shown here]. I remember Jeff asking how much we were spending on this abstract piece and pretty much bowling a gasket when I told him it was an investment and how much I loved it… well, to this day, it’s still one of my most treasured pieces and something I smile at each day when I pass it.

I thought it was time to highlight some incredibly talented individuals by sharing a look at my top 10 favorite artists. Most of these I have purchased artwork from and a few are on my list for when I get the chance to order something, but nevertheless, art is absolutely something to add character + color to your spaces and I’ll never say no to more fun finds to make our house a home…

Erin McIntosh | Erin is a beautiful painter and her versatility of water-based artwork is full of coloru + essentially abstract. Not only is she a true visionary, but her artwork needs to be everywhere in my home… oh wait, it is!! Make sure to go check out her instagram out and see the greatness she creates! You can also shop a ton of her original pieces via Gregg Irby Gallery [my go-to art destination].

Brooke Lancaster | A woman after my own heart… it’s been years since this beauty slid into my DMs and an amazing friendship started pretty much instantly. Not only will you find her original pieces in all of our homes, but this talent has been featured in Serena and Lily, and is sold online via Liza Pruitt as well. This creative of whimsy realism is located in Savannah, Georgia [one of my fav places] and her beautiful artwork is perfect to brighten up any room and has the best aesthetic for any added touch in a beach house or to give your home a dose of personality.

Hannah Lane | Another fine female artist extraordinaire worth checking out is this Nashville artist that I adore! She brightens the world with her creativity, her work is truly mesmerizing! She does not hold back with all the color and I love the versatility she brings to her canvas. She truly loves spring time and her art doesn’t hold back from reflecting it… definitely the queen of mixed media design!

Gina Julian | Gina Julian is the queen of incredible lines! Her paintings are colorful and give all the movement! If you love a POP of color then you will surely love the work she creates, which is why I’m happy I get to look at this beauty every single morning in my breakfast area. Her paintings are far from dull and just add all the good energy to any room in the house! She is one of the artists at this year’s Harding Art Show in May and I cannot wait to see the goodies she brings to sell.

Emyo | One of THE best in the business, Emyo is a local Tennessee girl just like me! Her motto is “helping homes bloom” and that is exactly what her masterpiece made of my kitchen bench situation. Go show some love on her page…she uses lots of pastels, and creates such a serene and peaceful vibe! She truly does put a light + life on your walls. You can also shop virtually at Gregg Irby, too.

Erin Donahue Tice | I had the pleasure of meeting this beauty in person last year at the Harding Art Show and you better believe it was an instant follow and fall in love type of moment for me. Erin is another one of my favorite abstract artists….see a theme going here 😉 She has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens, Traditional Home, and House Beautiful, and for very good reasons her artwork is FAB!! The giant pieces have my heart and I am just itching to find the right spot to bring one of her beauties into our abode. You will be totally blown away by the depth and detail of her work… it will just brighten your mood just by looking at it!

Kristina Akers | Everytime I am talking on my Instagram stories and you see her artwork behind me, I get flooded with DMs asking about the artist and who supplied these pretties in my office. Yep, that’s the beautiful work by my friend Kristina Akers… based in Franklin, Tennessee, her pieces are always the perfect touch and finish a space with their whimsical detail. Even more exciting… her art has also been seen on Property Brothers! She works with mixed mediums including acrylic paint, oil pastel, and collaged textiles, and each piece tells a unique story and adds a layer of love wherever they go!

Lynn Sanders | Lynn is an artist that hails via Louisiana and I just can’t get enough of her beautiful art! It is rich and passionate and fills every room with elegance, by still appeasing to color in a contemporary way! I have truly never seen anyone with her style of artistic creativity, which is why we selected this amazoingness for our master bedroom… even better, I finally had the chance to meet her in person last year and she was absolutely incredible = she was the headlining artist at the Harding Art Show and I was honored that I finally got a chance to chat with her. One word = exceptional!

Brittany Atkinson | Brittany Atkinson’s artwork is one word….EMPOWERING! It is bold, beautiful, bright, and she is truly a showstopper! She is based in Austin, Texas and she gives a whole new meaning to abstract female art in the home, it is truly one of a kind! I absolutely adore her “ladies” and “figures” collections and we just hung one in our powder bathroom reno and cannot wait to share it soon.

Colleen Leach | In my next life, I want to come back as Colleen… I’ve been intrigued with her work for years, though I’m still searching for the perfect masterpiece to add to our home. Her artwork most certainly has a playful and modern vibe to it+ she keeps it super interesting and fun. The pop of color will instantly bring joy to anyone looking at it, as I know it does for me! She will be at the Harding Art Show AGAIN this year… sign me up to scoop up something up ASAP.
