spring break in islamorada, florida

April 3, 2023

I know there are many of you out there that have been waiting for this post and my sincerest apologies that it’s taken a bit longer to get this one published… but just like always, better late than never and I hope you will forgive my tardiness since it appears many of you will be heading south over the coming weeks and months to take in some of that amazing Florida sunshine!

Having two places in 30A is amazing and you know it’s our favorite destination, however, sometimes it’s fun to get off the beaten path and switch out the normal for something a bit different and that’s exactly what we’ve decided to do for our family’s Spring Break trips… go someplace new and make new memories!

Jeff talked for years about his desire to go to Cheeca Lodge and for the most part I dismissed him. It wasn’t until I asked my friends and followers for fun beachy destinations when I finally took note and started looking into the resort. And I am so glad that I did! The entire landscape is wonderful… picturesque views, beachfront property perfect for relaxing, a walking wharf for boats and fishing and of course the entire property is filled with tons of activities to take in as a family.

We played pickleball, golf, cornhole and took lots of walks around the resort during our 5-night stay, which was the perfect amount of time. We dined on-site for a lot of the meals and definitely took advantage of the resort-style pools, too = the kids loved every second! I cannot say enough great things about this wonderful place and we will absolutely go back in the future.

As for the activities, I am listing a few of our favorites in the guide above… there is SO much to do on Islamorada!! And for transportation, we flew from Nashville to Miami on Southwest [you know we love our companion passes so we only had to pay for two flights] and then rented a car at the airport to drive down to the Keys. I would also highly recommend renting a car so you can drive as you please as there is lots to do around the island and you can drive to some of the other Florida Keys to take in extra sights and attractions as well…
