If there is one thing I know about teen girls, it’s what kind of birthday party they want… yes, they are looking for it to be Instagram-worthy with fun picture-taking opportunities, they want aesthetically pleasing backgrounds so they can pose with their friends, and they for sure want their invited guests to dress in some type of color palette so they can all “match” in their very own special way.
I will say we are very lucky that we live in Nashville and have A TON of spots for creating amazing birthday celebrations for those very particular teens we are raising, but I know many of these ideas + events could be replicated in your own city, too!

Earlier this month, we got to celebrate our very special 14-year old with a fabulous, frilly, feminine birthday event with all of her besties in tow. She was very specific about what she wanted… a fun photoshoot with her besties from our go-to local photographer, Chelsea Roc, and originally we had intended to do it in downtown Nashville on the pedestrian bridge but alas spring weather made us pivot to a local studio we shoot at regularly which actually turned out to be even better = Kairos Studio.

Jeff and I chauffeured all the ladies to the photoshoot and let them take over… a full hour of group gathering pics, special solos with the birthday girl and of course fun outtakes for the best of memories! Afterwards, we rented a space out at Hampton Social, one of Caroline’s fav restaurants = it was the best night celebrating our sweet girl surrounded by her amazing group of friends and a night we won’t forget!
Looking for a bit more inspiration on how to spoil your birthday girl and her friends?? Here are some of our personal favorite party perfect ideas:
Little Words Project | We actually did this last year for Caroline’s 13th birthday so we can attest to how much fun it is. We booked a private party where they shut down the store for us so the girls could have a special setup, complete with food/drink/cake/balloon backdrop and a few hours to create their very own bracelets, bag charms and more! Highly recommend for a party where they can encourage each other and bring home some special baubles to wear everyday, too…

Pins Mechanical Arcade | If your birthday girl loves a little friendly competition, this is the spot. Duckpin bowling [so much cuter than regular bowling], retro arcade games, and tons of space to hang with your whole group make it feel like a party without trying too hard. It’s casual, fun and perfect for daytime celebrating before the late-night crowd comes in to play.
K1 Indoor Go Carts | If your teen wants something more high-energy, celebrating at K1 Speed Nashville is such a fun pick, with indoor go-kart racing, a little friendly competition, and lots of laughs along the way. It’s a “birthday but make it fast” kind of experience. You can book group races so everyone stays together, and there’s also an arcade and snacks for in-between rounds, making it perfect for teens who want something a little different and more memorable than a typical party. Also great for the guys out there as well or if you’re hosting a co-ed get together!
Picnic PopUp | If you’re dreaming of a birthday that feels like a Pinterest board come to life, this is it. Picnic PopUp creates fully styled luxury picnic setups with cozy cushions, pretty tablescapes, fresh flowers, and all the dreamy details that make it feel extra special without you having to plan a thing [sounds like perfection to me]. It’s perfect for teens who want something relaxed but still super aesthetic, whether it’s a girls’ birthday, a small group hang, or a “just because” celebration. They handle all the setup and cleanup, so you just show up, take cute photos, eat, and enjoy a beautifully styled moment outdoors that feels effortless and memorable.
Paddywax Candle Pouring | If you’re looking for a birthday idea that feels equal parts cozy, creative, and a little bit elevated, this is such a cute pick. At the Candle Bar Berry Hill, teens get to step into a dreamy, hands-on candle pouring experience where they choose their vessel and fragrance, then create their own custom candle from start to finish. It’s relaxed, social, and super fun without feeling overly structured, which makes it perfect for a chill birthday with friends. You can sip drinks, chat while you pour, and leave with a candle that doubles as a sweet keepsake from the day, making it feel both meaningful and aesthetic in the best way. The girls and I have done this together before and WE loved it!
Top Golf, Popstroke or Puttshack | For a teen birthday that feels active, social, and just the right amount of competitive, these three spots are perfect picks. At Topgolf, guests can relax in their own hitting bay while playing interactive golf games with music, food, and a lively group atmosphere that works for all skill levels. PopStroke offers a mini golf experience designed by Tiger Woods, with creative courses that feel like a full-on adventure plus a great outdoor hangout vibe. Puttshack brings a high-tech twist to mini golf with automatic scoring, neon-lit courses, and fun game modes that keep everyone engaged the whole time. Each option makes it easy to turn a birthday into a memorable group experience where the focus is less on perfection and more on fun, laughter, and friendly competition.

Play Playground | If your teen wants a birthday that feels more like an all-day hangout, PLAY Playground is such a fun pick. It’s an interactive game space filled with larger-than-life challenges, physical games, and team-based activities that keep everyone moving, laughing, and competing the whole time. It’s perfect for groups who want something way more exciting than a sit-down party, and it naturally brings out lots of fun, goofy moments between friends. With plenty of space to hang out before and after playing, it turns a birthday into a full experience that feels active, social, and totally memorable.
GooGoo Chocolate Tasting and Candy Making Class | If your teen has a sweet tooth [like my little leading ladies], this is such a fun and interactive birthday idea. At the Goo Goo Chocolate Tasting and Candy Making Class, guests get to learn all about Nashville’s iconic treat while sampling different chocolates and creating their own custom candy treats. It’s hands-on, a little messy in the best way, and perfect for a smaller group that wants something unique and memorable. Everyone leaves with their own handmade sweets, making it part activity, part dessert, and part built-in party favor all in one.
Hope these ideas help inspire your next birthday party!! P.S. for all inquiring minds, I think almost every single one of their outfits came from Altar’d State! Our go-to destination for all things girly + glam, but still age appropriate, too.
