Travel does wonders for the mind, body and soul and just a few weeks ago I had the chance to head south to Savannah, Georgia for a girls getaway with two of my girlfriends to take on this historic coastal town meant for taking on the sights and historic architecture of this southern gem of a city.
I’m always up for a getaway, especially when sun and fun is involved and three days in Savannah was the perfect amount of time to do just that. A big recommendation of mine is that if you’re able to travel through the week, you can take advantage of all there is to offer without the weekend crowds for a much more relaxing environment! So, let’s get right down to the highlights from this incredible trip:
First, let’s chat accomodations, as we were lucky to score rooms at the brand new JW Marriott in the Riverside Plant District which has ALL the things to offer in terms of entertainment, retail shopping, plenty of rooftop bars as well as incredkible on-site dining so you’d never need to leave! Two of the three areas were completed last summer and the third and final component will be finished in July of this year and let me tell you, you’re in for a treat when you stay here. So much character and charm with an over-the-top theme throughout, the Keller family has transformed this former power plant into an icon in Savannah unlike any other! Here’s a few pics of the rooms, grand lobby and some scenic views not to miss:
The first night we arrived, we headed to District Seafood to grab dinner and let’s just say that the oysters are a MUST!!! Super fresh and cooked in various ways, you won’t be disappointed–the casual, outdoor eating space made it the perfect way to enjoy sunset cocktails, people watch along the riverwalk and see the bustling boats coming into the Savannah harbor, too.
The next morning, we were up and at it early and ready to explore the town! We walked from the hotel to a few of the shops along the river before making our way to Collins Quarter for brunch al fresco style. So many incredible options from the Drunken Berry Mimosa and White Russians to the Smashed Avocado Toast + Eggs Benedict that you can’t go wrong… such a cute little bistro in the heart of the city with great views!
Afterwards, we decided to take our own walking tour of Savannah so we could see ths sights + antebellum architecture and check out the historic district with the cobblestone squares and parks, too. We were lucky to have the perfect weather throughout our stay so it made for one excellent excursion to see everything easily. And then we did our own progressive food + drink progressive tour throughout town, taking in SO many of your recommendations. Rooftop drinks at the Peregrin, nachos at Treylor Park, and then finished our fun happy hour festivities at The Ordinary Pub.
Day 3 came and it was time to get ALL the souvenir shopping knocked out… because the rule at our house is that you cannot come home without the proper loot for the little ladies!!! We hit up the adorable shops in the Riverside Plant District including Urban Poppy, 13 Secrets and September’s Closet and then hit up iconic brands like Byrd’s Famous Cookies, Savannah Candy Kitchen and Savannah Bee Company which has my FAVORITE lavender honey!
We then walked to The Olde Pink House Restaurant for our lunch reservations [you’ve got to get them way ahead of time!] and it was just as picturesque and beautiful as everyone said it would be. The drinks were tasty and refreshing, food was savory and southern and each room has immaculately designed rooms that are worth a visit.
From there, we took the scenic route to venture to historic Forsyth Park, which was absolutely breathtaking! It was absolutely stunning with all the fountains and people sunbathing and getting some of that gorgeous Georgia sunshine… I could’ve stayed there all afternoon. Later that day, we took an Uber to hit up Emily McCarthy’s Shoppe… I’ve been shopping with them for years and loved the chance to get to shop their beautiful store in person–seriously a must shop for color-loving ladies and those who want all the fun partyware to entertain!
For dinner, we decided to head back to the JW so we could stay close to home, as these mamas were getting tired and needed an easy evening! The Savannah Tequila Company came highly recommended and I cannot say enough great things about their famous Queso Fundido, Red Sangria and Street Tacos!
Finally, our last day came way too quickly, but we made the most of it with the morning we had… we headed BACK to Collins Quarter for a second tasting of their incredible brunch options, checked out of the hotel and then got a late snack at District Smokehouse BBQ before flying home.
Suffice to say we absolutely wined and dined our way through Savannah and I cannot recommend it enough for a girls’ getaway or a couple’s trip when you’ve got a few free days on your hands. So thankful travel opportunities are opening back up and I’m already planning our next adventure… until next time!

Thanks for this beautiful savannah trip, Natasha! I’ve seen familiar places because I had several visit also in the place and I’ve experience JW Marriott in the Riverside Plant District twice. I checked on several hotels in savannah ga at https://www.visitsavannah.com/hotels-motels and this is the best one in my opinion. We will be back again early next year and I am so excited to be back!
