Oh What a Tuesday…

workout

May 18, 2010

This is a random musings catch-up post so I pologize for jumping all over the place…
Tuesdays just aren’t that exciting anymore in my blogging world… no more “training day” posts which means I feel like a loaf. Granted, I am still running 3 to 4 days a week, which equals anywhere from 10 to 15 miles logged, but I feel like with everything else going on right now, my fitness has taken a backseat, which I am not a fan of. This means, I am on the lookout for a new race/challenge… anybody know something I just have to take advantage of??
My beloved YMCA is still closed due to water damage from the flood, so I am still having to drive 5 miles each morning to the downtown Y just to workout=major frustration! Hopefully, my “home gym” will be opening soon and people-watching while I run can go back to normal.
In other news, I was heavily disappointed by a letter I received from FEMA yesterday. As a quick update, after having to rip out all our downstairs flooring, move all of our new furniture to avoid being ruined, and having to maintain an environment of non-stop dehumifying complemented with fans blowing nonstop because of the flood in Nashville, the lovely horrid people at FEMA decided to deny our request for any monetary help. Thank you wonderful government!! Granted, I know there were hoards of people with far worse damage than us, but something–anything– would have been much appreciated and could have helped us…what made me even more upset was the fact I had to decipher through the crap they feed you just to read the bottom line… ugh-end of story!
Now back to the brighter side of things…sorry for all the ramblings. Negative Natasha must have checked in for a bit, but I simply cannot stand to be in a lull for long so I’m back to me again =).
OK, so I need help… {Meg, I am telling you to stop reading this now though I know you won’t}, but I am deep in the throngs of planning my best friend’s bachelorette weekend–along with her other MOH–but I am seeking out some fantastic bachelorette party ideas I may not be finding through the land of Google. Our checklist is rising with lots of things to do and some have already been completed–invites went out yesterday and I can’t wait to show them off once the gals receive them, but I need other ideas… games to play, different ways to stand out from the crowd at the places we’ll be visiting, etc. I am open to options and would love any and ALL advice. I have thrown a few of these parties in my time with the help of online hostess blogs, but I want some fun suggestions! Send them my way please!!

Sorry to hear about the whole FEMA deal. That's not cool. Any help would have been appreciated. I am sure the bachelorette party will be fun. You could ask her questions about her soon-to-be hubby and if she gets them wrong, have her take a shot or put gum in her mouth. You all could wear black and she could wear white with a veil. Just some simple ideas. I know it'll be wonderful

  2. Sole Matters says:

booo FEMA! feather boas always help you stand out. get the bride to be a different color and have everyone else wear the same color. 🙂 you can get them at the michael's craft store for cheap!

  3. One thing we did recently…we always get the guys to answer a bunch of questions and then the girl has to guess what he said, etc. This past time (to make it different) we videotaped him answering the questions, then played his answer every time after she guessed, it was great! Esp. if the guy is pretty fun. Oh and small world…I came across your blog one day and noticed I recognized Aaron (don't know last name) but he was in Scott Hood's wedding with me! Too funny!

  4. Sarah Mina says:

We played this game at a bachelorette party a couple years ago…get your friends fiance to answer a bunch of questions about how they met, when they were dating, little habits they both have, etc. At the party, tell all the girls what the questions are before the bachelorette answers them and have them write down whether or not they think she'll get the right answer for each question. Then you'll ask her the questions and tally up how many she got right. Then compare that number with the number that each girl thought she would get right. The winner gets a prize 🙂

  5. Bachelorette Party Idea – We all wore veils, I made hot pink ones for all the girls and an all white one for the bride we definitely stood out in the crowd along with doing matching tanks that I made.

  6. FEMA sucks! So sorry you have to go through that! Hang in there girl! When I can't work out I do Yoga at home. The iPhone has a yoga app that is really good.

  7. LG says:

FEMA obviously needs some re-organizing. They did a shitty job in New Orleans and a shitty job here. They have been using TONS of people to stand in a school parking lot on my street giving out free cases of water for a week. No one over here needs drinking water. Big waste of time and funds. Sorry to hear they are disappointing you as well.

  8. Hey, so sorry to hear about the house, let us know if we can come over and help out with anything, seriously.

Hope you guys are doing well, can't wait for the engagement session!
